Our government definitely classifies documents to hide our mistakes which is why we keep repeating our mistakes and don’t learn from them. As for a country that that depends on an informed electorate we get plenty of information, we just choose to ignore it.

You’d be surprised at how many things are “classified”. Some of them necessary and essential for people to do their jobs.

Odd how they have already leaked the contents of the Trump and Pence docs but not a peep about Biden docs. The politicized DOJ is still entrenched.

And Obama chooses to not even look? Heaven forbid the left’s messiah be breaking the same laws.

It also means you can steal about 50+ boxes of them, which included some 300 of the most highly classified items, and store in your open to the public country club, refuse to give them back, make staff try to hide them, and then whine CONSTANTLY about a search warrant being served on you.

Far, far to many things get classified for reasons that would not have any bearing on National Security. Documents that show bad decisions all get classified!

Were Trump`s declassified documents more important than Biden`s classified documents?

First of all, classification of documents is done at all levels of government in all departments, not just the top levels of those departments. Second, the failure of a mid-level employee to classify any document can be quite severe, so many items get classified just to cover the employee’s tail. IOW you can’t get fired for over-classifying, but you sure can for under-classifying. It is becoming quite clear that the whole process of classification needs to be overhauled.

If I did what Trump, Biden, Swallwell, or Schiff did with classified documents/information when I was on active duty I can guarantee that I’d have had a colonoscopy from NCIS and the FBI, my clearance would have been stripped, I’d be confined to base, every letter I sent or phone call I made would have been monitored, and I’d have been put away in some deep, dark place.

Nothing will happen to any of these nitwits.

National security for Dummies. I’d like to say Dems make honest mistakes and own up to them, but Mike Pence dealt with his with commendable dispatch

Y’know, I gotta say, those people commenting here about classified material and procedures, with no background in such matters should STFU. Because to those of us who do have such experience, you look like blithering idiots.

When you make everything ‘Secret’ none of it matters any more. No perspective on what really should be kept under wraps, and what holds the label for no reason.
