Personally, I started out with coffee flavored ice cream. Try half coffee and half Ready-Whip in a cup. Sweet cream kills the coffee acid, and tames the ferocious caffeine. She’ll be drinking it black by adulthood.
“dosis sola facit venenum” – The dose makes the poison – Paracelsus
This is what happened to me. At age 5, I asked to taste my mom’s coffee. It was awful. Turned me off coffee for life. My husband loves coffee. He’ll ask me to taste some great coffee and while I can detect notes of flavor, there’s still the awful coffee flavor.
I had that same experience my first time drinking coffee. I was nauseated. It was Maxwell House and I have since learned that is probably the reason. Good to the last drop, my a$$.
Holy moley! It reminds me of the time Calvin smoked a cigarette and coughed and wheezed not long after that puff. Never again! I think that Katy must be thinking the same thought about the coffee for now.

Humm. Intriguing. I wonder what napalm tastes like? …chicken perhaps?
Teto85 Premium Member almost 3 years ago
Well, napalm is just jet fuel mixed with Jell-O.

No notes of Orange Crush coming through? It’s an historic Occupation blend! He must have added too much sugar.

That’s what George Jetson thought of the tea the FoodErectorCycle gave him instead of coffee one morning.

pretty much my reaction to my first and only cup
paullp Premium Member almost 3 years ago
Random musings:
(1) It can be an acquired taste. She might grow up to like it.
(2) She might like normal coffee a little better, as compare to Adam’s “advanced” concoction.
(3) She’s a very annoying, bratty kid; nice to see her taken down a peg.

Don’t drink it straight, Katy. Try adding chocolate. Half coffee, half cocoa is a good place to start.

My reaction the first time I tasted coffee. She’ll adapt.

I know how she feels, I feel the same way but I taste 12 hour worn construction worker socks and turpentine.

My dad’s coffee was overcooked 1970s Folgers. I didn’t know what good coffee was until I left home.
