“Exercise more and eat less.” For thirty years my doctor would tell me that and I would ridicule him for giving ridiculous advice. But he retired recently and now I must find another doctor to ignore.
Just make small changes you can live with Adam. Change how you cook stuff. Don’t fry things, boil, broil or bake them. Try to eliminate desserts except for special occasions. Take a daily walk of about 30 minutes, and increase it as you can. These small changes will make a huge difference!
There was a guy, Covert Bailey, who did some shows on PBS years ago, about health, fitness and weight loss. He had a very simple but quaintly polite way of explaining things. “Dr. Bailey, why am I fat?” “Because you eat too much.” He would then go on to explain the reasons, science (egad, science) and psychology of it all. Really quite simple, if you eat more than you use you gain weight. The details get much more complicated, of course, but not as complicated as some would like to think.
To someone like Adam it can seem overwhelming to change your lifestyle, but it really need not be. Something as simple as walking for a half hour a day and cutting out the crap he eats will go a long way. And once he starts seeing some progress, he will be encouraged to do more.
nope, if weight loss is only concern then fewer calories in and more calories out will do it. (despite what a lot of people will tell you, it’s just physics)
My cardiologist put me on Jardiance (pill) due to a PE/DVT I had a couple of years ago. My ejection factor (how hard a heart pumps) is still lower than it should be. I also have diabetes 2 and am on Metformin. Turns out the combination of these 2 drugs can cause “significant weight loss.” I have lost almost 40 pounds since November without changing my eating habits or exercising. I guess Jardiance is like Ozempic (shot) which is for diabetes that people are taking to lose weight.
Apparently uncontrolled type 2 diabetes can lead to rapid unexplained weight loss. Aside from that little issue, the only way my husband ever found to lose weight was a continuous blood glucose monitor. Knowing what his blood sugar is doing down to the minute is really good for helping him make changes – like not eating any more until the next meal, and watching what he eats then. Of course, knowing that he is damaging his organs when his blood sugar goes out of range is pretty motivating.
You exercise for your health and eat properly for weight loss. Sadly, most people don’t know what a healthy diet is, and the Feds and Big Medical feed them lies.

According to TV ads, you can just pop a pill and lose weight. Sounds miraculous, huh??

There is a multi-billion industry built solely on that premise.

Like I told my doctor. I’m willing to try anything, as long as it doesn’t involve diet and exercise..

You could spend a lot of money on gyms, trainers and do-it-yourself manuals that will all tell you to exercise more and eat less. Is that easier?
