I avoid self checkout whenever I can. There is something about it that’s just not right. Maybe if they gave me a discount for using it…..

We have just been advised that a major grocery chain is hiking prices starting today. I expect that all the other grocery chains will follow suit, including the discount chain i shop at.

I wish more people would self check out. A little self awareness goes a long ways.

Let me share a sad story… the last time I used self check-out, I lost a donut. I did the self check-out thing and paid with cash, but when I started bagging I placed the little bag with a donut higher up on a shelf that holds the large paper bags so that I could get all of the bigger stuff into my two personal plastic bags before adding the donut. Once I had all of the big stuff into the bags, I collected my change, grabbed the receipt and out I went. I miss that donut.

I have no problems using self check-out. At Walmart I do no more than five items and get through quickly. At Walmart Neighborhood Grocery however, I see people trying to scan full shopping carts. They are SLOW. This is where loading into a belt would be much better, with the cashier scanning and bagging quickly.
