I think Mister J. did a nice job of conveying what the cat was thinking he’d like to do (the b&w panels) and thinking out the probable consequnces of it…
Our cat only sleeps on my chair (there are seven others) so I flip up the cushion. He still sleeps on the bare wood, but he moves fairly quickly when I plop the cushion down on top of him.
But the cat moved, right? Because Luddy seems to be at the end of the sofa by the arm in the first panel and in the middle of the sofa by the last. But Arlo still looks ticked off. Maybe he wanted to take a nap? I often have to come here for interpretation.
I didn’t get so much that Arlo was THINKING of what could happen. From Arlo’s expression in the 2nd panel, I got the impression that Arlo was REMINDING Luddy what happened last time! So instead of going through that whole episode AGAIN, Luddy just moved over. ;)

I love you like Sheldon loves his spot.

That isn’t how it works at my brother’s house. You move the cat, sit down and than the cat curls up in your lap.

Do the canary test- Put him outside for the night to see if you have a fisher in the neighborhood.

Never bite the hand that controls the doorknob.

Why does Arlo want to sit there in the first place? Territorial?

Cats have spots….people do not…..we sit where they allow us to….

Did Ludwig move, or did Arlo move him?

I’ve never seen any sign our three cats reason through the likely consequences of their actions.

That is why we keep a water mister nearby. An old windex bottle would work well. Ranged attacks are always safest.

Yup. A close relative to the pine martin and the only natural predator of the porcupine.
