Gene: We tried some high-end stuff at The Dock! It didn't go over! Mary Lou: That was my idea, you might add! Mary Lou: I admit I was wrong! People came to The Dock to eat fried seafood! Mary Lou: But I'm not talking about avant garde now! Just fresh local food for discerning diners! Gene: "Avant garde," that's French, isn't it? Gene: Babe, the restaurant has been closed a WEEK! Mary Lou: I know! I'm going crazy!
I am a city kitty currently living in a country community and I can tell you that if the socio-ecomics and education of the community don’t match the restaurant, it will fail quick. I live 60 miles eat of Raleigh and a French (or German) place would fail in 3 months. All they know here is tobacco, fried pig skins, and what they call eastern NC BBQ. That’s all fine and good as its their home and their values but you could not import “outside” values in.
