Boy, these pictures are so drawn just so exactly right! Even the body postures and ear positions are spot on. Sometimes I appreciate the cartoon, but sometimes I also really appreciate the cartoonist. This is one of those times. Wow.
This is how Independence Day was celebrated in the 19th Century. Nowadays it’s just fireworks and cookouts, and the occasional band concert, and I could do without the fireworks.Mark Twain’s Fourth of July Speechin Keokuk, IowaJuly 3, 1886http://www.twainquotes.com/July4-1886.html
We have 5 cats, the booming was quite intense last evening, probably will be worse tonight. Funny——it didn’t scare them a bit, we have the windows open too. But they scatter when the doorbell rings, lol.
We’ve been having thunderstorms, so our dog is already upset. But, not as upset as she was on the 3rd when they neighbors had a pre-4th party. So looking forward to tonight, up all night trying to comfort her, again. ( a minor inconvenience for having a lovely pet)Enjoy the 4th,everyone, quietly or not, it is your choice!
Gokie, reminds me of POLICE ACADEMY when the sound effects guy imitated gunshot sounds over PA. Makes rioters flee in fear. I have long believed sound generation is underused. When an infant, number 2 son could make a wail which would have made a gunman or Knifeman throw down his weapon to cover his ears.
Reminds me: a neighbor kid (one of the ones that just had to make noise and break things) set off a bottle rocket that set the roof of a neighbor’s house on fire. Shake shingles are kindling! (Luckily it was put out by other neighbor with garden hose). Kid went on to enter the Air Force and become a fighter pilot: he found an outlet for his interests indeed! =)

Ludwig will just have to wait to pursue his happiness till tomorrow. Hopefully, Arlo and Janis are enjoying some fireworks. Happy 4th, A&J fans!

You haven’t lived until you’ve had a 50 pound dog jump in your lap, hide his head under your arm and stay there for the duration!

The cats here have a spot and strips, yet the colorist insists on coloring them blue.

At 10:30 on the 1st our 95 pound Belgian Sheppard sought comfort from our 14 pound cat. Some guard dog!

During thunderstorms, I could tell them “boom boom babies” and they would be okay. With fireworks, a little hard.
