It can be turned into rain. It is even called “making water.”

So Mars colonists won’t be able to go water skiing or surfing, and will only be allowed to water their lawns on alternate Thursdays?

Sounds like Arlo’s channeling Judge Judy: Don’t pee on my leg and tell me it’s raining.

Notice how Arlo tactfully avoided concluding with, “…but it’s not.”

Space exploration and colonization is just a stupid waste of money.

Why is Arlo so down on science lately? And there’s a difference between what scientists say and how reporters report on it. Mars is far too cold for liquid water.

Wow. Still seemingly a very “anti-science” arc here continuing today. I do not get why Arlo (and presumably JJ) is taking such an anti-science stance. Space exploration is very valuable. It is a form of pure research. And, a lot of the “science hating” folks really despise pure research. Pure research is all about discovery of new knowledge. And, looking back over the many decades, pure research has lead to tremendous discoveries in every branch of science that has lead to the development of very helpful (aka practical) things for us. I sincerely find this story arc to be very shocking and surprising and actually disturbing.

Space exploration is good. And is just a minuscule sliver of our budget. War on the other takes up nearly half of the expenditures.

It’s all an effort by the ultra-rich to develop a way off a planet they profited from by selling the fuel required to set the whole thing on fire!

Its perfectly normal human logic to ruin the inhabitable planet you are living on hoping that you can colonize some other planet no matter how seemingly inhospitable.

Can’t understand why we have this arc. Is it going to be tied into their moving nearer the kids in some way?

The Mississippi Gulf Coast is home to both Jimmy Johnson and the Stennis Space Center, a NASA research facility where they test rocket engines. Mississippi State University is a Tier 1 research school. The electrical and computer engineering department does research in silicon carbide semiconductors, some classified stuff involving cryptography, and lightning protection (I spent several years doing research in that five-story-tall artificial lightning lab.)

@PIPE TOBACCOScientific research is good. Scientific speculation (aka, prediction) doesn’t fare as well!
