Came back from Lunch and Lunch recess to crying teachers. Got home from school, went to my after school job only to be told we would be at least two hours late even getting started. It was nearly 06:30p.m. before we started towards our routes to deliver the no longer current details of what had happened in Dallas.
People still have strong reactions to the event. But it seems that the CIA and FBI can only redact to it. My question is why? Most of the people involved are dead. Who are they protecting?
Although I was only 10, I recall clearly that some people were glad he was dead. JFK was elected with a razor-thin margin, and many hated him with the same passion that some people today hate Obama and Trump.
@NOSIRROM et.al. Apply Occam’s razor. Oswald did it. For unclear and unknowable reasons. The three-letter-acronym outfits gathered a library load of information during the investigation – most of which didn’t apply to the actual event. I.e., give it a rest.
And then there’s the Family Guy theory – Oswald saw from his window that there was someone on the other side of the grassy knoll with a gun. He took out his rifle to try and shoot the assassin, but missed.
The simple fact is, secrets cannot be kept perpetually. If it was a conspiracy with others involved, by now someone would have spilled the beans. When Jack Ruby went to prison for killing Oswald, it was assumed he was part of the conspiracy. But he died in prison without ever implicating anyone else. Why would he go to the grave with that secret? He shot Oswald for the same reason Oswald shot JFK… he was deranged.
Concerning the heavy hand of “secrecy” in the government – I had an ‘acquaintance’ that worked in the communications area of the federal government in the ‘70s who told me of ’acquiring a “U-Matic” videotape labeled “Classified – Top Secret”, from a friend stationed at a military installation in Virginia with instructions to ONLY view the tape in private. Hush-hush! Turns out it was a fairly decent copy of “Star Wars”! This was when Lucas was vowing that the movie would NEVER BE RELEASED on tape to the public, I might add. “Secret” is government-speak for either “I might get the Nation in trouble if exposed” or “I might get my butt in a sling” if I get caught. I might also add that the most insidious type of “Secret” classification is, I am ’classifying’ this just because I CAN! Neyh, neyh! The fatal misapprehension we all have is that all parties capable of ‘classifying’ documents are, in fact, adults. Donnie should have disabused us all of that notion, by now!
I checked 3 or 4 news websites this morning and not a single one had any mention of November 22, 1963. Guess JFK is in the same classification as the flag and anthem, forgotten about. If so, 3 cheers for the future of America.
I was in 5th grade in Sister Alfred’s English class when our principle Sister Dominica came on intercom crying with announcement…I was 10…we all started crying and I turned to my buddy sitting next to me, Steve, and said “It was the Mafia”……it was

And if the CIA have their way, the files will confirm that.

They are heavily redacted to spare the Bush Crime Family.

Treason doth never prosper, what’s the reason? For if it prosper, none dare call it Treason.

Or maybe we can’t handle the truth. That being said has more logic then anything else.

We love our secrets, as meaningless as they might be.

They don’t think that we are mature enough to handle the truth.. Now where did I put that bottle?

Mafia wanted him dead because his brother Bobby was on them hard
CIA wanted him dead because he wanted to break up the alphabet agencies
LBJ hated him and wanted him dead so he can be President.
