You weren’t as prone to spillage back then, Arlo.

To lower the risk of shock, it would also have to be low amperage. Tazers use 50,000 volts to get a connection before dropping to 5,000 volts, but they won’t kill a healthy person. Cell phone chargers put out only five volts, but the 0.5-5 amps they have (varies from charger to charger) is plenty enough to kill you (it only takes 0.1-2 amps to kill)

We purchased an electric mattress pad. 110F all the time! The replacement lasted seven weeks, the re-replacement three months. Moved a 34 yo pad from our cabinet and plugged it in, still works great! Analog, not digital.

We gave up electric blankets when there was the scare of them catching fire. Just added another blanket. Now we do not even need the extra blanket since we discovered fleece sheets. They are wonderful and they are instant warm.

After all these years, it dawns on me that sometimes there’s a gag about Arlo’s (hardly ever Janis’) nightstand glass of water. Yet, sometimes, the gag has him getting up at night for water. I wonder how many people keep a glass of water within reach at night?

Use a down comforter. They don’t break down, catch fire or electrocute you.
