I love how Arlo is relaxing on the bed, watching Janis get ready for the day. My husband still watches me the same way, after over 20 years of marriage (and lots of body and health changes!). I guess guys are like that, in good marriages. Love you JJ!
Cats don’t have a conscience. If they could talk would tell you they don’t make mistakes and everything they do is by design. They are studying people and watching to see our reaction.
I don’t know about “guilt” – that’s requires a level of self-awareness that I don’t think cats have. But they definitely know when they’re being naughty. My cats will do something they shouldn’t (like walk on the table or scratch the curtains) and will stare at me while they’re doing it. Then they’ll run away the instant I shout “NO” or get up.
In other words, they know full well that they’re wrong, but they keep on trying, checking to see if I’ll try to stop them this time.

Absolutely not, Janis.

Arlo is right. No cat has a guilty conscience though sometimes she ought to.

Let the air out of a bike tire indoors and watch the cat hide under the sofa.

I hiss at my cat when he does something wrong and he jumps. He knows when he’s being bad.
