I guess….if you really stretch out the meaning of the words ‘zombie apocalypse’ ……the zombies have morphed into adults, now, and don’t eat candy anymore.

We had over a thousand. 15 huge bags of candy all gone. Started at 5 PM and was solid kids (and just as many adults) until 9 PM when we ran out. You can come to my house next year Arlo.

I had 19. About the same as last year. No kids in the neighborhood anymore. They are all “drive ins”. But cute.

We had our usual number of zero. We are set back and have a 200 foot frontage——which I guess is too far for the kids today to walk. I see them go right past and head for the sub division houses next door. I have checked, but we have no sign saying “The Radley Place.”

Arlo, if that is true, you should have handed out brains instead of candy.

Virtually all the kids here went to various public functions. Our only visitors were friends on their way to one.

We had rain. The kids that were out in that got a double-handful.

It’s 6 to 8 here in Indianapolis. A lot more reasonable. We only had about 8 families, because the mayor of Lawrence decided Tuesday morning to have Trick of Treat Tuesday evening.

Zombie Apocalypse!?!? That’s funny. I guess a neighborhood full of seniors walking around would look like a zombie apocalypse. :o)

Maybe he didn’t know about the code: in my village you put your porch light on if you want trick-or-treaters.

All I had to do to keep ‘me away was sit on the porch with my trusty shotgun.

…Arlo – start a Halloween party for the adults in the neighbourhood, they’d probably love it…

I understand. We live in an aging out neighborhood. Maybe in 20 years it will be like it probably was 20 years ago. We also live on a darkened cul-de-sac , with some older neighbors already gone. but we had 22 which has been the norm for the 5 years we’ve been here. Practically 0 at our country house before here. Besides the requisite candy my wife also bought glow bracelets, blow bubble jars, and stickers for those kids (and parents) looking for something different. We also sit on the porch, light up the place, carve pumpkins and play sound effects. Some (parents mostly) appreciate it.

If only there was someone close to the eponymous characters with a child that would love all that candy. But for the life of me, I don’t know who that could be….

We live in a little suburb of Los Angeles called Glendora. There’s a church on the next corner that has a big turnout. Plus there’s a guy down the street that does a Pirates of the Carribean display with lasers, sound effects, cannons going off and 6 full size pirate mannequins. Plus he gives out full size Hershey bars and has a real Pirate and female mate there for more effect. The pirate guy is the one in the Captain Morgan commercials.

I didn’t have a single trick or treater this year. I didn’t have any last year, either. 2 churches in walking distance of where I live had huge Harvest Festivals, and my assumption is that they all went there. Next year I am buying no candy.

I feel Arlo’s pain. We didn’t have any either. And I really missed it. But I’m giving up on that aspect of Halloween now. Just gonna love it for what it is—a magical changing of the season.
