ROKU is not a channel, but it is a launching pad (?) or a gateway (?), or an icon on your computer that you can click on to open more icons to sites that are actually channels. ROKU is like windows 3.1 when it first came out – convenient but not really necessary. That was until Windows became necessary. I have a ROKU TV, don’t pay for it or the huge amount of streaming content available, but I still tend to watch Netflix and HULU, plus what is on my own DVR.
I have a smart tv and can access all the streaming channels – all the free ones anyway(except Netflix). Haven’t cut the cord yet but plan to very soon. It’s great to watch something you want at a time you want.
The time they are a changing — Roku is a channel — Spectrum is producing shows and soon network TV will all be online with only the most basic of shows still free over antenna.
One thing like about Netflix you can look up what you last watched and when. Even when you have to wait a year or more for the next season of many shows they have a record for you to look at. Hulu used to and they wrecked it by removing it and the comments we used to love to read about a show

Arlo, I bet this would go faster if you would let Janis have the remote.

Instant classic! A&J is funny because it’s true.

If you can’t remember what you were watching . . . why waste time watching it?

Asea in a brave new world without compass or sextant to steer by. (good thing the GPS is up and running.)

How painfully close to reality this is!
