I shopped from catalogs for years before internet. It is always a crapshoot as to what the item will actually be. I’ve had very few problems over the years. Seed catalogs are the worst as they show you a fantasy view of the plant/flower/vegetable in the picture. In reality they don’t look the picture in many cases but still good displays/results.
We shop online more because of Covid and being out in the country. Amazon gets the bulk of orders because of speed, but some prices are stupid high and we usual only buy products we’ve had experience with.
eBay and AliExpress get my business for some items that I don’t mind waiting months for because they are incredibly inexpensive. Forget about returns and refunds and don’t buy anything that has to be fixed in the future.
I used to love shopping, now thses cashiers are so rude I don’t want to deal with them. Then they want me to do an online survey..No you don’t!!I guess this is Covids fault too. Took everyones politeness away.
I’m a knitter and for the past year I’ve bought most of my yarn through Amazon and trust me, the color you see on your computer, phone, or tablet doesn’t always match the actual color of what arrives.
Husband & I almost always have problems with orders – hence unless it is something we REALLY need & can’t get anywhere else we don’t order things. May 2020 started to run low on food (had cut servings down 1/3 to 1/2 to save on food use) & decided had to order same.
Ordered first from BJs as had emailed free delivery coupon & most of what needed was meat. A person actually went & shopped our order & delivered it tohouse. Of the maybe 10 meat items we ordered we received one – 7.5 lbs of the fattiest stew meat I have ever seen. Would text when item was out & ask/offer substitutions – one of the suggested meat substitutes was bag of ice. Delivered to wrong door (per what we included with the order) & threw her used mask on the ground. Should not have accepted the order if did not have the items. Then took 2 days of telephoning &emailing for us to get refunds for the items they did not have & did not deliver!
Ordered from Walmart local stores do NOT deliver & items ordered came from across the country over 4 days in small boxes by Fed Ex. Over 50% of cans dented – some almost in half. Plastic bottles of cooking oil had their necks and caps bent over so far that even when the bottle was opened it does not go back. Boxed items were dented like someone stood on them. They were easier to get refunds for the damaged cans than BJs, but it did leave us short on food.
Not sure how others do not have problems such as this when ordering items. At least all of the items (other than the problem items from BJs) showed up. We have had a lot of items over the decades which have not. We also had a medical insurance co. which insisted husband’s insulin had to be delivered – would be here within 2 days & had to be signed for. 4 days in transit, left on front steps in 90F+ heat despite being temperature sensitive.
Plus normally cartons left at foot of our driveway by sidewalk just waiting to be stolen.
Hence we don’t order unless no other choice but to do so.

On some things you shop where you can see what you are getting.

They always do, just like the ‘photos’ of food in the fast-food(?) joints.

If buying sheets, etc. online, need to check the ‘threads per inch’. Must be at least 500 th/i.

I much prefer my laptop or desktop for everything except a quick answer to a question when I am away for either of the aforementioned.

Online switch and bait… I’ve seen some wild pics w/ the merchandise; completely misrepresented and a lot of it seems to be coming from overseas.

That version was probably photoshopped like every picture is.

Looks more like a sheet instead of a bedspread in my opinion.
