Is an old soap opera returning? I guess I am out of the loop on this.

Soap operas could stretch 5 minutes of story into two weeks of programming of hour long shows.

To be fair to your Grandma, even after 2 years of not watching, nothing would have changed in a soap opera.

If my memory is correct, “The Sopranos” was the first series to broadcast twelve or thirteen episodes and then return at least a year later.

This grandma would say “I’ll be right here waiting for you”. 51 yrs of GH and I’d wait as long as I had to in order to see more.

Always have to rewatch the previous season(s) if it has been a long while.

LOL This just happened to us yesterday when we started Season 2 of “Invasion,” which also comes two years after Season 1.

Quick tip: Find a season recap on YouTube. A lot easier than rewatching an entire season to refresh your memory.

Is Janis talking about Squid Games?

I really enjoyed the AMC miniseries of Dark Winds last summer and the second season now underway is just as good. These are based on Tony Hillerman’s novels.

She would have said…the heck with them I’ll watch I Love Lucy reruns!

Your grandmother and thousands like her would have written very polite letters to the sponsors and told them they’re changing their buying habits, unless…

Aaaaand, they’re back home.

If Grandma had to wait 2 years for the next episode of her soap operas, she probably would have found much more entertaining and fulfilling things to do and would never have bothered watching them again.

Some series, popular and others, on streaming series do not have set ‘next season schedules.’ For example, “Stranger Thins” season 4 was last year, and season 5(the finale) is not expect before Fall 2024 or later. That is an eternity for us ST fans, but we will try and be patient.

Oh man, try being a “Venture Bros” fan. YEARS between seasons. Literal years!!! Agony!

Add another years for the creatives strikes.

Good Omens? Heartbreaking end of Season 2, and then you HOPE you ever see Season 3.

So what is that? A week maybe in soap opera time. :)

Don’t forget – the next season might not be until the “next” season this year with the twin strikes of writers and actors.

Even game shows have writers. Ken Jennings could come back to host Jeopardy as he is not a members of the union, but Mayim Bialek cannot – nor can their writers write for them.

She wouldn’t have waited two years because she wouldn’t have binge watched the previous season.
