Sometimes there are spots where they don’t reach or I just don’t feel like unravelling & rolling back up 100 ft of hose. Plus I also fill my can from the rain barrel.
I may be dense, but I don’t quite get this “joke”. I get that , it is hot and Janis is watering, but why does she throw the emptied can,and what does it break on the ground? What is this annual event, that Arlo feels is early? An annual event in Arlo and Janis that I’ve missed even tho’ being a long time reader? Any help ?
To all those other people fighting about the UN, hoses and /or global warming. Janis is using a watering can because she isn’t afraid of a little back and forth exercise. We have a huge garden here and I trod back and forth with 2 five gallon buckets of water numerous times every afternoon, strictly for the exercise that people do their best to avoid. (an it shows with the obesity rates)
After looking at Janis watering the plants in the second panel, it appears to me the anatomy of her right arm is just put together differently than mine is. Maybe the hyper extended tendons in her arm snapped back in place after emptying the water which caused her to unintentionally launch the container backward towards Arlo?
NOAA’s 2023 Annual Climate ReportSince 1850, the average temperature of the ocean and land has increased by 0.11° Fahrenheit (0.06° Celsius) per decade, or about 2° Fahrenheit in total. Since 1982, the rate of warming has been more than three times as fast, at 0.36° Fahrenheit (0.20° Celsius) per decade
The heat domes we’ve been getting in June and July are really messing up our garden. Even watering daily, the cucumber, squash and tomatoes plants wilt, and even the late season blueberries are ripening now instead of September.
What global warming? The globe has cooled over the last 20 years. Here in northeastern Midwestia, it’s been much cooler than normal for the last 10 years. 4 of those years set records for rainfalls, too. (Yes, that means each had more rain than the previous). Last year we had exactly one day where it reached 90 degrees. The previous two years had three days each, with none reaching 95 degrees. 40 years ago, it was normal to have a week of days in the 100s.
Water restrictions are probably in place where J&A live. She’s being environmentally conscience by judicially using water in the most efficient way possible.
I have been keeping garden records for about 40 years. The daffodils I planted on September 17th, 1997 bloomed on May 7th 1998 for the first time. Each year, they have averaged blooming earlier. This year, it was March 23rd. No change in anything except the climate. And the entire rest of the garden is following the same pattern. Those who don’t believe in climate change are either lying because Faux has instructed them not to see it, or they have never planted a seed in their life.

Don’t they have hoses and sprinklers where they live?

Don’t need a hose yet, we have had so much rain here, the garden is bursting with green. But warm weather is nigh I think.

Not gonna touch that.

It was bone dry in June and in the upper 90s. Now, in July, it’s rained every other day, hot humid, and flooding.

Water in early morning instead. Also, it’s not the plants’ fault you didn’t install drought-tolerant flora.

Invest in a Soaker hose then sit in the shade near Arlo.
