I pay my bills every Saturday including my credit card.
First of all, if there is a questionable charge, I can challenge it immediately. I am also more likely to remember what the $24.52 charge was if I had just made it that week.
This is like pulling the band aid off slowly instead of just ripping it off.
Also, if I know I will have a big expense coming up, I start putting money aside for it. I use a spreadsheet to balance the checkbook. I have an account code for everything. S01 is Set Aside. Any money I put in there is like an unprocessed check. When I finally release the money to pay the bill, I zero the amount out.
