First things first, Darryl. See if there are any drive-in’s still around. Then make your big plans for movie night.

There’s always a good show at the drive-in. And the pictures aren’t bad, either!

“And on the side, we can see who kills the most mosquitoes.”

But do they play kid movies? ( I remember the parents taking us kids to the drive-in to see Cat Ballou. Great movie but maybe not for kids.)

the nearest has 2 screens: one is showing the latest Transformer movie – the other, the new Indiana Jones

some d/i theatres that had been closed for decades, reopened during the pandemic

I loved the drive in when I was a kid. I think the last time I went I was a teenager. If they’re bringing them back that’s a good thing. I can’t imagine my husband wanting to go though.

Mom, Dad, Why are the windows fogged up in that car? How can they see the movie?

A local town bought the drive-in and renovated it. They show movies during the summer. Charge by the carload and residency. Townspeople pay less but it isn’t that much. Older movies are shown. No speakers, AM radio transmission.

One month later:Wanda: Darryl? Remember that night we went to the drive in? And remember how the kids went to sleep? And remember how you thought it would be fun to, you know? Guess what also happened that night!

what could go wrong?

Come to Ohio. Drive Ins all over the place. Pennsylvania has more. Just ‘cause you don’t get out doesn’t mean the rest of us don’t.

There is a drive in theater about a 25 minute drive from, me. I haven’t been in ages but it’s $12 for adults and $6 for kids 4 to 11. You get to see two movies and they’re new releases.

Before you make any promises to the kids, better check out to see if there actually is a drive-in in your area.

I’ve never been to a drive-in, but it sounds pretty nice, so maybe they should.

There is a Drive-In in Vineland, NJ

Maybe they could use the Delorean from Back to the Future.

Ah yes, going to the drive in as a teenager, those were the days. I had a 1968 Dodge Coronet wagon with a 426 Hemi at the time. We would go to the drive in, in it and back into the space, drop the rear window into the tailgate and the drop the tailgate as well as dropping the rear seat flat. We could lay there and watch the movies in comfort.

If we wanted a little privacy I would put the tailgate up, if we wanted even more privacy I would roll up the tailgate window.

They still have one here in Flint, Michigan. Pretty popular, too.

Drive-in movies were fun when we were kids, and teenagers, but with it’s bad side too!…we would have to keep the windows up on hot nights because the mosquitoes would thing were just a buffet on wheels!

Last time I saw a movie at the drive in, the movie was so bad that me and my friends slashed the seats.

Take the DeLorean.

You night have to drive a bit, but they’re still out there. And they are fun!

Sleep is a time machine to breakfast.

The only way it’s fun is if you leave the kids with a sitter.
