Even though I have a humidifier attached to my forced-air furnace, I don’t make my home humid enough in winter to prevent shocking the cat I serve when I touch him. (If I increased the humidity too much, I’d have moisture condensing on all the windows, which isn’t good for their wood frames.) When spring finally brings more humid conditions, it takes a few weeks before he realizes he won’t get shocked when I touch him.
