Why’d you buy $1200 worth of tackle to catch $3 worth of fish? Why’d you leave me alone Saturday and Sunday? What do you mean you’re taking you 2 week vacation alone at Lake catchalot? You should have cleaned the gutters instead of fishing.

    FISH. THE BRAIN FOOD!

Wrong test of theory. It’s not how bright you are WITH fish; it’s how bright you aren’t WITHOUT fish.

I’m just surprised Gracie would even say that. She’s usually kinder than that.

This just doesn’t jive with Gracie’s personality - or am I mistaken?

Kids are born with a snarky side. They learn to restrain it as they grow in childhood, then unleash it with full force as teenagers. :)

Gracie is not the nicest child. She’s smart but insecure because she feels a need to demean those around her.

Isn’t that Gracie’s “rival”? -the one kid who gets better grades than her?

I was a pretty smart kid myself (still not the dullest knife in the drawer, I hope) and all through elementary / middle / highschool, there was a fair bit or rivalry with other kids who got good grades. The ribbing between us didn’t start until high school, though…

Even if it’s a put down, I can sort of relate. Just sitting there while the teacher tries to get the rest of the class up to speed, gets old really, really quick. My parents really hammered on not acting superior towards other kids, but I know I reached the end of my patience on more than one occasion.
