I agree. And if someone turns off the power, there will still be books.

Mostly I read books. However, I do have an e-reader which is very helpful for travel.

I also wouldn’t mind if the schools used an e-reader instead of all the books my kids have to schlep around. They don’t allow backpacks with wheels, and each of my kids’ backpacks weighs upward of 65 pounds (yes, I put them on the scale).

cdward - I was just thinking about improved costs for college students if their textbooks were availableon e-readers!

As for me, I can’t afford one, and it would take a lot for me to switch as I feel like Gracie. But looking at my husband ‘s and my overflowing bookshelves makes me consider it frequently!

I’m currently reading Ron Chernow’s new biography of George Washington. 904 pages, heavy as a brick. I love it!

There is too much money in printed college textbooks to ever make them e-readers.

Borders Facebook page Sunday asked what everyone preferred. Hardback and paperback was running almost 20-1 in favor over e-books.

Why is the English so different from the Spanish?? In Spanish, Gracie says “No, not really” followed by “Would you like a paper TV?” I know things can’t translate exactly from one language to another, but do the differences that happen from time to time relate to translation or differences in humor?

Gracie is killing trees. I thought she was an environmentalist.

Hear, hear, Gracie! But I wouldn’t mind trying out a “Kindle” for some situations, like maybe on travel.

For purposes of college and high school, I am all for eBooks. Especially for college - those textbooks are a) expensive and b) obsoleted way too quickly to require them to be printed. And, of course, c) way too heavy. Sadly, too many profs only teach from a small portion of many of these books, so you spend $200 for a textbook to use for one semester and only use maybe a couple hundred pages from a 1000-page tome that weighs 10 lbs and doesn’t fit in a backpack.

Gracie can still be an environmentalist and still love books. There’s plenty of websites where you can trade books with other people.

ksingernc-I think in this case ‘I’ doesn’t translate as well. She would have had to say ‘yo’. Think of it this way, those of us that read both the spanish and english versions get two different comics on occasion! More to enjoy!!
