Baldo: Okay, I need a cool car... like, immediately! I mean how can I... Baldo: ... save money if I only work 10 hours a week? Dad: I'm pretty sure this factory preset for mobility is a defect that can't be fixed. Baldo: Did you guys feel a draft just now?
Gigantor has it with less interest in cars among youths due to phones, video games, and online interaction generally – the other part of it is insurance costs many times what it cost me in high school 25+ years ago, yet the minimum wage has not even tripled in that time. Cars, new or used, and gas are more expensive compared to wages 20-30 years ago too. So I suspect some of the diversion into other interests stems from cars becoming relatively more expensive to buy and keep up.
