Directing light to where you need it using reflectors helps, and saves money. (you pay for every photon generated)
Urge your local government to replace “Cobrahead” type streetlights with shielded fixtures that don’t spill light above horizontal.
I’ll bet most folks reading this can’t see the Milky Way because of local light pollution. And that has just happened in the past sixty or so years. Nearly every human being before us has seen it easily.
