I’m not sure what web site Baldo is visiting. Seems to me transmission (standard) and clutch are fairly straight forward repairs. With that top air conditioning is moot. Electrical shorts I might skip just because of all the places they can exist (especially after all the mice that have infested that car).

Why even have the A/C, it’s a convertible.

I think my first concern would be getting it off the blocks and onto some actual tires. Then you can at least roll/tow it around.

Really, a before computers took over car that you should not try to fix yourself? I bought my wrecked car in 1964, did all the work on it myself, worked lots of hours-sometimes 3 jobs at once-to get the money for parts. All with just a manual. and having to buy metric tools. I learned a lot. So when my son turned 14 I got my cousin to donate a 57 Merc. When my daughters turned 14 I asked them if they wanted to get a project car, they did and they each got one-all discovered slowly rusting in a cousins abandoned orchard

The poor guy,he will never get it done because the car keeps changing from a 1959 to a 62,63,64. I woulda thunk south O the bordor guys woulda knowd this.

Next up is a great big pair of fuzzy dice to hang from the rearview mirror lol.

I would be surprised if there was any city in the LA area that would permit an unregistered/disabled car to be parked in the open.

Why not change the clutch? Hmmm, manual shift, shouldn’t have too much trouble finding one serviceable on eBay.

If you can’t do the transmission and clutch you might as well not even attempt to rebuild the car. The Electrical stuff may require at least some help, but the A/C isn’t really that difficult.

I agree with his list, except the clutch. I used a Chilton book and a brother-in-law, and changed the clutch on a ’73 Gremlin with no issues. Not that hard…just heavy as all “git-out!” :-)
