FWIW, I’ve sent the following comment to GoComics:.——————.I would like to offer a comment on the banning of the GoComics member known as Number Six for making a highly controversial remark..I don’t read Lio, where the offending comment was posted, and I’ve had to glean what I could from comments posted by others. I will say that I’ve never personally seen Number Six to make an egregiously uncivil comment anywhere else. As that may be, it sounds like Number Six made a comment that was in highly questionable taste — quite possibly not meant to be in religious terms — and it was met with intense and deeply personal hypersensitivity by others who took it as a religious and cultural insult. Certainly no decent person would go out of his or her way to offend and wound others, but we all have lapses in judgment that teach us painful lessons..It may be that the GoComics staff — which does, after all, have to maintain standards of civil behavior on their web site — arguably overreacted in banning Number Six. At the very least, it would be good if GoComics published more clearly their standards for acceptable speech and behavior, their criteria for banning any member, and a process for anyone who has offended to show remorse and be accepted back.
