And also everybody who was hanging around just before the turn.I never did get caught up on my Wednesday strips, since I usually start at the turn, quite a while before bedtime, and they didn’t show up then.
Judging by the length of wiring Carl has pulled out of the ceiling ….(um… if you call the underside of a porch roof a “ceiling”) I’d say the (now former) living room chandelier is sort of hanging sideways in the kitchen. and the light from over the kitchen sink is shining out of a hole in the attic floor.
@Susan, “Judging by the length of wiring” I was thinking just that – he is pulling half the wiring of their entire house out that one place (quite a feat, I must say). Having pulled a lot of wire in my day it is not an easy task without someone assisting at the other end.
Carl is training as a government electrician.Really he is in tug of war with the squirrel holding the other end.Looks to me like the squirrel is winning.Carl is moving up?
Looks to me like Carl’s jerkin’ all around from the jolt he’s getting now, seein’ as how a couple of the cords have snapped….so, call the electrician after ,Carol. Right now, you might want to get up and out of your porch chair, locate the circuit breaker and shut the electricity off. Once you’ve done that, then call the ambulance.
Carl, look at yourself. What were you thinking? Here’s the snap shot you never wanted to see. How many times have you complained to Ned, Ed, Stan and the guys? How many times have you hung your head in the face of the dreaded polka dots? How many times have you cursed the damn spots? And in very moment when the softer side was showing, when good advice was free and before any real damage was done, you fell back into the habits of a life time, threw caution, the instructions and common sense to the wind and flashed your ass like a school boy on his first date. You wanted to be a dentist, couldn’t get through pre-med. Wanted to be a lawyer, too much reading. Wanted to be an artisan, no talent, no patience, no sense of direction. Tried business school, too boring. Tried selling home made pickles, they weren’t that good. Wanted to be a travel agent, too many foreign languages, if you can’t read the menu, you can’t order dinner, brilliant!!! Tried selling used cars, didn’t like working on the weekends. Tried poker, couldn’t keep a straight face. And now you are 66, balding, over weight, boring and stubborn, at least you found something you are good at……Amen
I don’t know about space at the Tiki. I think it’s larger than it looks sometimes. It will be interesting to hear about all the re-repairs that Holmes will be attacking in the next Ballard Street assignment.
I would have weighed in some more a little earlier, but I had to drive across town for a crafting meet that our Barony holds every Thursday (most live on the west side of town, so it’s held in Peoria). There was a little illumination going on, some wire weaving, and I did not visit all over the room. I turned over the wall hanging that I had painted with the simple scroll that will cover all the mundane walls in places for events (indoors or out).
@Lefty, too bad to hear about Carl. It’s never good to see a guy give up on his dreams.

Carl, FYI, this sort of DIY is not SOP and unless you send out an SOS, you’re going to end up SOL.

Carl’s behavior is shocking – I get a charge out of that.

I can hear Mike Holmes now, “Well whoever did this electrical work didn’t know what he was doing. Now we have to rewire the whole house”
