No problem – the Brits won’t be able to see the strip through the fog.

erm, hate to be pedantic, but the rowing isn’t happening in London, it’s 20 miles away and London doesn’t have classic British fog anyway, not for many, many years. Even when it did get bad it was the smoke from coal fires that made it into smog which was the big thing. Loved this cartoon for many years, but it does look like you’re getting desperate now. I suggest you stick to stone age themes and stay out of the world as it was 50 years ago.

This is not funny. It’s inaccurate, anti-British and offensive. Normally, I like this strip but for the past two days you have fallen way below your usual standards.

Mr. Butler is right about the London ‘pea-soupers’. They no longer exist. Clean Air laws eliminated the industrial and domestic smoke that caused them.

The Port of London Authority would never agree to the rowing taking place on the commercial stretches of the River Thames.

Americamn ignoranceof the world and isolationism on public show. Not a pretty sight.

Wow, the last time I checked this is a comic strip. Is it just me or are people taking this too seriously?

iangoodsan, and? After the display that showed a bus doing pushups in preparation for fat Americans, I’d say the Brits opened the door. I hope you were just as mad at that as this because otherwise you’re a hypocrite and that’s not a pretty sight.

Actually, the Pythons are on record that they deliberately tried to make fun of Jesus in ‘The Life of Brian’ but they found that they couldn’t make it work. They could only lampoon the way people reacted and especially to false messiahs. The scene where the centurion makes Brian write out ‘Romans go home’ as a punishment is one of the funniest things I have ever seen.

The point about cliches/stereotyping is that they cease to be funny very quickly especially when they are wrong
