Only deterrent to tail-gaters is to frequently tap on your brakes, so that your brake lights turn on. Watch in the rear view mirror, as the face of the tail-gater turns the same shade of red as your tail lights.
If there are cars stacked up behind you, and no cars in front of you… You’re the problem. If you are too timid, or scared, to drive at least the posted speed limit perhaps you should just stay off the roads. You don’t have the right to hold others up.
The best way to stop (most) tailgaters is to drive at least the posted speed limit. Yeah, there are those few, but for the most part if you are too timid or scared to drive at least the posted speed limit you should consider staying home. Remember, if there is a line behind you and clear road ahead… you’re the problem.
mrcooncat, here’s an idea: Instead of taping your breaks why not move into the slow lane? In life its lead, follow or get out of the way. In your case it’s get out of the way!

Good attitude there… speed thrills but kills, as the NHAI in India never fails to keep reminding us! :D
