This reminds me of when the first NBA All Star Dream Team was playing in some country and Charles Barkley sat down in a restaurant and ordered a beer, and the waitress told him $20. Even with Charles’ multi millions, he said “$20 for a beer??”
Never really thought about just how much $$ I was wasting on beer out somewhere until we started the whole social distancing thing and I began just imbibing at home. Sure, there is something about the atmosphere or ambiance of sitting out at an establishment having a microbrew, but when I can nearly get an entire sixer or even a 4 pack of higher octane microbrews for less than what I paid for two beers out, it’s kind of a no brainer which one I’ll choose.
Everybody has their own experiences. For me this does not rank in the top ten worst. The most recent really tough one was about 8 years ago, when I had two adult children in the hospital at the same time for unrelated causes. One had pancreatitis of unknown origin (Mayo figured it out later) and was hospitalized for a month, causing her to lose her house. While she was in the hospital the other one had an aortic dissection, with the tear starting in an area that the surgeon said killed 80% of victims before they could call for help. That year was definitely in the top five. 1968 was the worst; 1965 was the second worst. Perspective helps a lot but comes at a very steep cost.
I have simple tastes. Most of the year, I choose Bud. Around the holidays, some say my taste gets worse. Some say I am ruining perfectly good eggnog & nutmeg. Others say I am wasting perfectly good Chevis. (Those who try it with me almost universally agree it is a good combination.)
I think we are all going to remember this year as the year we decided to divorce our neighbors for irreconcilable differences and then found out that “till death do you part” is for reals. …sad

I never liked beer so I don’t drink it. Or booze for that matter. Seeing the prices everyone is posting here i guess I’m lucky.

Looks like I picked the right year to quit sniffing glue.
Looks like I picked the right year to quit amphetamines.
Looks like I picked the right year to quit smoking.
Looks like I picked the right year to quit drinking.
I just can’t afford it any more.
Oh No! Looks like I picked the right year to quit eating?
