Yeah Betty we still read comic strips. What’s it like being in one?

Who are these people who read and comment on the comics?

Are there any YOUNG people reading these comics? I can tell by many references the commenters make that most seem to be Boomers and up. (Including myself). Anybody under the age of, let’s say 40? Under 35? --I hated newspapers going the way of dinosaurs; mostly hated losing my comics. And now? Reading many more comics each day than I did when they were in print. And getting to make snarky/witty remarks! How fun!

Read me! Like me! Validate my existence!

The Comments are sometimes funnier than the strip!

GoComics and Comics Kingdom help me maintain my sanity but on too many strips the comments are boring snark fests. Often I wonder why those commenting are reading.

Why would anyone read the comments on comic strips?

Some folks enjoy commenting on the comic strips.

Some others seem to prefer commenting on each other.

life is too short without comic strips. since I don’t get a newspaper I love the online comics . I have been reading comics for 56+ years

But for us losers.. Betty would be out of a job

It’s not necessarily a need, it’s communication and social commentary in the hours before or after work, before or after the news, or, for insomniacs, any old time it happens to be.

Every day, Betty. After all, those comic strips aren’t going to read themselves!(though some do!)

I’ve run into such people and asked what they thought of Marmaduke today. The response? “What is Marmaduke?” “What is a comic strip?” No time for what is not real life. The fact is as Aunt Bea says, what goes on at Floyd’s is no different. Gossip is gossip. It goes on everyday and night, all day and night. One form or another.

It’s as important as books, music or anything else which bares or lifts the soul.

Pff! No one comments on comics!
