THE STORY OF GEORGE WASHINGTON "AMERICA'S DAD!!!" Valley Forge, 1778 SOLDIER: General Washington, the men are starving! GEORGE: I know that, soldier. SOLDIER: Some are saying we might have to resort to cannibalism! GEORGE: What?? That's absurd! I won't stand fr my men speaking such nonsense! If my second in command and I can withstand these hardships then so can everyone else! MAN: Say...where is you second in command? GEORGE: Burp.
Most allegations of cannibalism by Washington were initially inspired by “The Washingtonians” and numerous stories without a solid proof.
However, scientists in 2013 found archaeological evidence that earliest American colonists at Jamestown, Va., survived harsh conditions by turning to cannibalism, which would seem to corroborate the earlier stories.
Nate’s cartoons are right on target!
