Dang, this strip makes sure that Nate really has proven himself that he has moved on from Jenny completely, kudos to him. I still wonder what Artur saw in Dee Dee that made him fall for her in the first place…

I thought Nate would’ve been all for it.

Nate is showing some maturity. Looking after Artur’s interest instead of letting him go tell Jenny and hoping it causes a breakup so that Nate could attempt to ask Jenny out.

Is it my imagination, or are we seeing increasing instances of Nate heartily desiring to help this guy, e.g. in Sunday’s strip (where he smilingly invites Artur into the game, as long as Artur can scrounge up a 6th person……worked great, until Artur shows up with “Mr. Razzle Dazzle” (still The King Of All Doofuses) in tow). Nate’s actively befriending someone he “hated” for so long can only be good for this strip…..

I can’t believe Nate went from adoring Jenny to trying to keep her and Artur together!

So far, I have to give Nate credit here. He seems to actually be being a friend to Artur and doing what’s best for him, rather than chasing his stupid fantasy with Jenny.

Scrolling through the comments and everyone is saying “Nate is stopping Artur instead of letting Jenny break up with him!”

Jenny asks nate out after artur tells her about his crush on dee dee.

This pretty much proves that he’s over Jenny. He wouldn’t have stopped Artur from saying that if he still had a crush on her.

Nate: Artur, Dee Dee has no interest dating you (Perfect grammar)

Artur: Ah! Hokay! That is big relief

Artur corrected: Ah! Okay! (it’s fine to say Hokay though, some people say it!) That is a big relief

Panel 2:Nate: Relief? (Great!)

Artur: Yes! Because I am change my mind

Artur corrected: Yes! Because I have changed my mind

Panel 3:

Artur: Jenny is girl for me, which I am realize now finally!

Artur corrected: Jenny is the girl for me, which I have finally realized right now!

Or…

Jenny is the girl for me, which I have realized finally right now!

Panel 4:

Artur: I must tell Jenny how my crush on Dee Dee was totally crazy! (WOW that’s actually good)

Nate: Bad idea. Bad, bad, bad, bad idea.

Good Nate. He is actually be nice to Artur and doing what’s right instead of chasing Jenny!

I wish Artur broke up with Jenny and went steady with Dee Dee. They would be such a cute couple!

They need to make an arc where Nate moves to a new school, goes for a week or so with no friends, makes friends, and, after a month or two, has to decide between leaving his new friends for PS 38 or leaving Francis, Teddy, Chad, and Artur forever to stay with his new pals.

Bad bad bad bad bad BAD idea.

Sigh…

Im serious though, we could have gotten a great arc yet we keep forgetting that nothing changes in Big Nate.

So Jenny is STILL going to possibly dump Artur, or get really mad at him. I think we’re in for an eventful week!
