Anyone ever wonder what happened to the good ’ol Nate who hit his head with a plastic bottle?

I still like the “old” candy Nate mentioned (Snickers, Reese’s, Kit Kats, Skittles), but I barely even know the other “new” candy. Also, I thought Nate said “health bars” not Heath Bars, and it almost made me think, “Does he like HEALTHY candy now?!”

You wander through P.S. 38 and Nate comes up to you. “What homeroom are you in?” He asks you. You’re in Mr. Rosa’s homeroom. “Hey, so am I! Mr. Rosa is the best!” You’re about to head to class when Randy comes up to you. “Hey, loser! Let me have Nate and I’ll leave you alone!”

He’s got a point, though. Most of us buy those big mixed bags of bite-sized or mini candies. And there is never a Heath bar or Good N Plenty among the choices. Good luck finding a Baby Ruth bar. And although I believe 3 Musketeers are made by Mars (as are Snickers), I rarely see those, either. And I love them. On a positive note, the mixed bag of candy I bought this year were entirely Snickers…and they were varieties I did not know existed: Almond, Peanut Butter, Crispy…along with the regular variety. (Love the Peanut Butter one – better than Reeses!)

What are heath bars?

The single biggest detractor to Halloween candy is the “fun size” What in the devil is so fun about something so small, you have to unwrap 5, to equal the same size as a regular one? By the time you get all the wrappers off, you’re fighting the urge the hurl them across the room!

Shouldn’t that be “Bits-O-Honey” instead of “Bit-O-Honeys”? Like “Attorneys General” instead of “Attorney Generals.”

We get over 1,000 kids, teens, and believe it or not, adults every year. Many adults come with babies in strollers. They ask for candy for them, and one for themselves. I think that’s ridiculous, so I give them pretzels. Candy is for the older kids. Little ones get Welches Fruit Snacks.

I aspire to be like these grandparents.

If Nate knew how other kids live, how they don’t even get candy or playtime or the right to a childhood.. the choice to say no. As they say, first world problems. You have it so good Nate!
