’Morning yyyguy and Carmy! I’ve got to teach you how to baste eggs, yyyguy, or just cover the pan for a little bit, and the steam will cook the top of the eggs.
I’ll have English muffins with apricot jam, please, and English breakfast tea.

End of a cold, cold spell, it’s not freezing today. 11 days of far below normal temperatures. I’m glad it’s warming up. My electric bill this month is $145. Shoot, in the summer it’s maybe $150-160.
I’m officially in Exports now. It’s easier switching this time, I already know how to do the job, it’s just a matter of catching up on the changes over the last 5 months. This time I am actually in the same cubicle with my teammate, which will make things easier.
Gotta lot of stuff I need to do. Heading over to the dragon early so I can pump out earrings to take to the craft store tomorrow. Meanwhile, enjoy some Krispy Kreams.
I posted before I read the comments so I missed those symptoms. It’s okay Doc, you are safe here with your fellow toonaholics. You just happen to be the one requiring the most help. :-)
Good morning all. I just stopped in to see who was here and to get my day started off right. By that I mean my toon tour and chatting with friends. Or at least reading the comments on days I don’t have time to post.
I’ll probably be in and out today. Way too much to do today and not enough time to push myself into doing it. Where to start, where to start?
Doc–I saw on that sheet for museums that one states that they have over 300,000 comics in their archive. Maybe you need to go for 400,000! At your rate it wouldn’t take that long. :^)
Terry & serena Good Morning. NoDoc to state the obvious would mean we have a problem. I can walk away from the comics anytime I want. Anytime, anytime, yep anytime.
You my friend have replaced one addiction for another. One little word…Wildcheetah.
Doc - While being addicted to comics is better for you than many other addictions, I’m glad you are realizing it is time for a different phase of life.
My mother used to say “This too shall pass” and I was middle-aged before I understood it thoroughly. Whatever is currently happening will never last - whether it is something good you WANT to last, or something you’d prefer was already over.
Enjoy the present, plan for the future, remember the past. Once I understood that I couldn’t get all the various areas of my life just the way I wanted them, or keep any of them that way, it became easier for me to be content with my life. Not that we shouldn’t have goals, and work towards them, but rather that unrealistic expectations can lead to frustration and even depression.
I’ve been able to enjoy my sons at each stage of their development, but also rejoice when they reach a new stage. I can smile when I see pictures of their younger years (or young kids who remind me of those years), remembering and yet not pining for those years that are gone. (They also appreciate that I don’t treat them like babies!)
I’m sure you’ll be able to fill the time you spent on your archive with other activities just as (or more) enjoyable.
With cleaning out my mother’s possesions, I’m reminded of the past frequently, but am so glad she embraced each new day the best she could, and didn’t “live in the past”. My parents’ days are past, and whether I like it or not, a new phase of my life is beginning. So, I might as well find the good in this new phase, and live life without regrets.
May you find this new phase of your life rewarding and fulfilling.
Rmom–Ref homeschooling and punishment. I understand your thinking that the teacher/mom should not be punished too. But given the fact that the child did not ask to be brought into this world I take it as my responsibility to also handle the consequences of punishing my children. If I need to give something up to instill the correct values in my children then so be it. Just my feelings, not everybody elses. :^)
That would be too cool to have your own museum! I’ve been approved for a small business loan for my Lionel schtick but with the economy, I’m not quite ready yet.
Doc I would love to see your archives. I’ve loved reading comics since I learned to read [so many years ago] but there are many I’ve never seen. If you ever do put them in a museum I hope I can get to see them someday. Of course that would mean you would probably never get rid of me.
Good morning Doc, Lonewolf, Quaby, Johnny, Dry, Cleo, Carmy, RMom and anyone else I missed.
Good afternoon, Terry!
My thought is that a good parent sacrifices a lot for their child, and discipling them is (in the short run) more work than not, so in doing effective discipline, there will be some labor on the parent’s part. What type of discipline is effective will probably be different for each child and each situation. It was probably more work to show my son how to do my housework, and supervise him while he was doing it, than it would be to have done the work myself. However, he got the message that if he made more work for me, he would have to reduce my workload somewhere else to make up for it, which gave him the necesary incentive to make better choices in the future. This strategy falls in the category of having him make restitution for stealing (time) from me.
It is difficult to have a homeschool student stay “at school” longer than it takes for him to complete the school work, and therefore the discipline has to be different than it would be under the other educational styles.
hello to Lonewolf, jdoc, DocT, serena, Quaby, Rmom, Dry, cleo and any i’ve missed. DocT despite the well intentioned (and possibly non-serious) notes from some of us about “going for another 100,000” strips, you are undoubtedly best off making the clean break from the archive that you seem intent on making. Rmom said it very well, above, and i agree. recognizing that a change is needed isn’t always easy, nor is making that change always easy to do, but when you decide on something - do it - and don’t worry about might have beens. you will continue to grow as a person as new doors open for you. you will know what’s best for you.
in my refereeing career, there was always a sense of anticipation until halfway through my last season. i never stopped having fun on the ice, but the idea of “it’s Saturday and i get to go referee today” had started to become “it’s Saturday and i have to go referee today.” i’d get to the rink, put on the skates, and the enthusiasm would be there again, but in between those times - not so much. it didn’t help that i was starting to feel like it was cutting into family time, either. that feeling you have of a weight being lifted is a sure sign that the decision is the correct one.
Well, I’m off to the Dragon, gotta make some stars
keep the thread tension tight or they’ll end up on Mars
My motto’s always been to test and try
Why take someone’s word that it don’t look right?
Welll….more and more colors come out every day….
Annnd we know Toho and Mishubi will keep us right….
And on that musical note I go off into the rain. At least it’s not freezing!!!
3:30 pm EST and i have things to do this afternoon so, goodbye to all my Tribe friends. i may be back tonight, depends on how interesting the film is. tomorrow is a RL birthday party so i don’t know when i’ll get back. see you when i do.
I have had a full day, and now I’m going to do some homework.
Doc I think you are right about the archives. And keep the avatar. It will keep us on our toes wondering what day it is! I switch mine when the mood strikes.
Hi Dry! What’s new?
Hi Carmy, yyyguy, cleo, terry, rmom, Tabby, johnny, marg and- bmonk? were you here this morning?
Sorry I missed breakfast again. I’m not a morning person- at least, not on-line.
I wasn’t here this morning, not long this afternoon, and who knows when I’ll be back. It’s getting to be an even busier weekend than usual. And I’ll be gone next week–last workshop in this series.
Just popping in for a few minutes…
Hello Shika!Bye Shika!
Thanks, yyyguy for the compliment. I never know if my long-winded comments are appreciated or just tolerated. At least they haven’t been flagged as far as I know.
bmonk - I’ll miss you and also DigitalFrog next week. I forgot where he said he was going to be, but with both of you missing, the humor won’t be quite as witty. Enjoy your workshop, and learn what you should.
Good afternoon, serena and any others I missed!
Poking my head in just for a few minutes. I am slowly working on coming down with something , and I just woke up after not being able to sleep all night. I finally fell asleep at 6 this morning.
Rom, I like your comments!
Bmonk, we’ll miss you and interesting exchange on the other strip (brain is dead).
JFri - did your luggage come home, dragging its tails behind them?
Question for anyone familiar with Zaxby’s: are their fried pickles any good?
(((celecca))) - Thanks! I hope you get feeling better soon. Insomnia is the pits, but at least you didn’t have to get up at 8am today, at least I hope not. Sorry, I have no idea about the pickles.
cleo - It has been the most pleasant weather here that we’ve had in weeks. My hubby & I spent some time out in the garage taking care of some small tasks, since it was so pleasant. (Replacing bulbs, wiper blades, etc.) I probably ought to get back out there before the sun goes down and practice shooting. You’re the foodie - maybe you can help celecca?
@Cleo zaxbey’s is a chicken place, and I sort of knew they had a restuarant about 1/2 mile away, but as I don’t eat a lot of fast food, I didn’t pay attention. But their ads on TV are getting brash, and I just saw one for their fried pickle slices. Just wondering. When I get sick, I start getting hungry for weird things!
Back to the playoff! They keep this up with 2 quarters left, and the Packers/Cardinal game from last week will lose their recognition of being the highest scoring game in a playoff!
cleo, WHATEVER IT IS YOU ARE SMOKING I WANT SOME!! That is LIQUID sunshine out there….has been ALL DAY!!. Did you find that empty snifter?? I was REAL quiet when I drank it!! Luggage magically appeared on my front porch during the night. VERY weird.
JFri, funny you should say that you wanted what I was smoking. I just got in a box of Felipe Gregorio 1957 Coloniales, a 90+ rated cigar that is 4.5x46, so it is a short cigar perfect for this time of the year, because it take no time to smoke it. I just came in about 15 minutes ago after smoking one and sipping some wine. It was gorgeous here today, not a cloud in the sky.
Doc, there’s more to football than frozen pizza! I’m making my own pizza and getting it ready for tmr. and a big salad, When kickoff starts tmr. with the Cowboys and Vikings, everybody is on their own! I’m not leaving that TV except for potty breaks during comercials, if needed!!! LOL!!!!
Dry - I don’t have to worry about cursing in my posts, since I don’t in real life. I gave that up 25+ years ago, and with my kids around 24/7, I’d be caught in an instant if I slipped. I was just thinking of someone who thankfully doesn’t post at BT, but is known for his long-winded and TMI posts, and I didn’t want to have the same affect he has on others.
Hello, I’m back. Wet, cold and tired , but back. It’s raining and miserable out there.
I got 2 sets of earrings done and got trounced at Scrabble. But my score has been getting consistently higher. One day I will beat her, but until then I’ll have fun.
Got to go finish up the earrings, I take them in tomorrow. Take care and play nice!!!
rmom, I know who you are referring to. I thought you were worried about posting too long of a post and getting flagged because of it. . Anyone to my understanding can post as long a post as they want as long it’s not offensive or mean. And most of the time the person to whom you are referring has some good, accurate info. I don’t usually mind that person, but I guess he really bothers some other people. Don’t know why. If people don’t like that person’s posts, they don’t need to read them.
Dry - Let’s just say that I disagree with his interpretation of the Bible some of the time, his politics all of the time, and I really don’t want to hear about details of his “love life”. But I don’t remember flagging him, however, I am pretty sure others have done it. He irritates me, but I try to overlook that and move on. I figure I probably irritate others from time to time, and so I don’t want to be “the pot calling the kettle black.”
Part of the reason he irritates others is because of his frequent long posts, so I try to not get in the habit of doing the same. There is more than one way to irritate others.
rmom, yes that’s true. Just go to SOTU!. Haven’t been there in awhile to read the posts, but it used to be like that. But I try not to let others bother me. If I don’t like what someone says, I’ve generally learned to pass it by, usually, unless a friend of mine is being attacked. And everyone has thier own views on religion and politics so it’s best not to travel that road, unless you really have to.
Dry - I’ve checked out SOTU a few times, but I’ve decided that it is too argumentative for me. I’m quite capable of being argumentative, but I try to pick my battles carefully. I doubt anyone reading posts at SOTU changes their views because of what they read there.
Tabby - I think your new avatar is great! I happened to be changing mine about the same time. I realized my other one had been up for awhile, and decided it was time to put up something different. This one I took while we were waiting in line for a toll booth on the FL turnpike.
Tabby, I’m here, just signed on a little while ago. I had a really late dinner, because I had a late nap. Now, I’m doing some laundry. I’ve been catching up on the comics. I’ll BB in a few, got to check the dryer.
Hola Dry, Annie Lennox has a beautiful voice. I’m listening to the song on another tab.
Tabby, sorry, I thought the song from walking buddy was for you. Is today the anniversary date or his birthday?
Carmy no, but ever time she gets on, now that i fixed her up a You tube account, she looks up song for him, songs that remind her of him. its so sad. his birthday is 9/9/ and he was killed march 30, 08. its still realy hard on her. her oldest grandson looks JUST like him. its hard on her.

Just popping in for a few minutes… Hello Shika! Bye Shika!

Gosh, it has been an absolutely beautiful day here. Sunny and pleasant.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Hi All!
(cough, cough, sniff, snort, sneeze)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Doc stopping your archive and changing your avatar day. Let your inner rebel roar.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Hello celecca. I have never heard of Zaxbey’s.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
(((celecca))) - Thanks! I hope you get feeling better soon. Insomnia is the pits, but at least you didn’t have to get up at 8am today, at least I hope not. Sorry, I have no idea about the pickles. cleo - It has been the most pleasant weather here that we’ve had in weeks. My hubby & I spent some time out in the garage taking care of some small tasks, since it was so pleasant. (Replacing bulbs, wiper blades, etc.) I probably ought to get back out there before the sun goes down and practice shooting. You’re the foodie - maybe you can help celecca?
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
@Cleo zaxbey’s is a chicken place, and I sort of knew they had a restuarant about 1/2 mile away, but as I don’t eat a lot of fast food, I didn’t pay attention. But their ads on TV are getting brash, and I just saw one for their fried pickle slices. Just wondering. When I get sick, I start getting hungry for weird things!
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
@Doc do what you want! I do like looking at everyone’s avatars, though. Sometimes they’re hard to make out.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
bbml going to the moives with mom bro and his girlfriend.
walking buddy was supposed to come. shes not. :0(
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
celecca never heard of them, but I like fried pickles!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
rmom as long as you don’t curse in your long posts, you should be okay!*
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Cleo we had a heat wave here today and yesterday. 44 degrees yesterday, and 47 today. Funny how warm that seems in the winter time! :-D
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Never had them.
I do like peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches. Better than fluffernutters, even.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Back to the playoff! They keep this up with 2 quarters left, and the Packers/Cardinal game from last week will lose their recognition of being the highest scoring game in a playoff!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
what are fluffermutters, let me guess peanut butter and marshmallow creme?
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Dry yep, warm weather is all relative.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
You got it!
What about that hit on Warner? Wow. And he’s back on the field already.
celeconecca almost 15 years ago
Wandering off. I think it’s time to sleep again. Thanks for conversation. Happy yapping later Tribe. (Sneeze, sniff)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
A peanut butter and marshmallow creme sandwich. I will pass on that one.

Howdy Terry. This is when I miss TV.
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
cleo, WHATEVER IT IS YOU ARE SMOKING I WANT SOME!! That is LIQUID sunshine out there….has been ALL DAY!!. Did you find that empty snifter?? I was REAL quiet when I drank it!! Luggage magically appeared on my front porch during the night. VERY weird.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Funny how football games go, last weeks Packers/Cards game was full of excitement, and in this game, everything went down in the first half!
The Duke 1 almost 15 years ago
Yikes!!! It’s a Saber Tooth Tabby!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri, THEY DIDN’T WANT TO WAKE YOU UP! lol!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
JFri, oh yeah! That’s our Tabby girl! :-)
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
JFri, funny you should say that you wanted what I was smoking. I just got in a box of Felipe Gregorio 1957 Coloniales, a 90+ rated cigar that is 4.5x46, so it is a short cigar perfect for this time of the year, because it take no time to smoke it. I just came in about 15 minutes ago after smoking one and sipping some wine. It was gorgeous here today, not a cloud in the sky.
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
Tabby what big teeth you have.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Hey doc! Too bad you don’t like football!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
If it sells more frozen pizzas doesn’t that make your job more difficult?
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Doc, there’s more to football than frozen pizza! I’m making my own pizza and getting it ready for tmr. and a big salad, When kickoff starts tmr. with the Cowboys and Vikings, everybody is on their own! I’m not leaving that TV except for potty breaks during comercials, if needed!!! LOL!!!!
cleokaya almost 15 years ago
I am off to dinner all.
Peace and Love

Dry - I don’t have to worry about cursing in my posts, since I don’t in real life. I gave that up 25+ years ago, and with my kids around 24/7, I’d be caught in an instant if I slipped. I was just thinking of someone who thankfully doesn’t post at BT, but is known for his long-winded and TMI posts, and I didn’t want to have the same affect he has on others.
Quabaculta almost 15 years ago
Hello, I’m back. Wet, cold and tired , but back. It’s raining and miserable out there.
I got 2 sets of earrings done and got trounced at Scrabble. But my score has been getting consistently higher. One day I will beat her, but until then I’ll have fun.
Got to go finish up the earrings, I take them in tomorrow. Take care and play nice!!!
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
rmom, I know who you are referring to.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
Quaby at least it’s rain and not SNOW! LOL!
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Jfri I love it!!! thanks
yes thats our tabby!!
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Dry - Let’s just say that I disagree with his interpretation of the Bible some of the time, his politics all of the time, and I really don’t want to hear about details of his “love life”. But I don’t remember flagging him, however, I am pretty sure others have done it. He irritates me, but I try to overlook that and move on. I figure I probably irritate others from time to time, and so I don’t want to be “the pot calling the kettle black.” Part of the reason he irritates others is because of his frequent long posts, so I try to not get in the habit of doing the same. There is more than one way to irritate others.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
rmom, yes that’s true. Just go to SOTU!. Haven’t been there in awhile to read the posts, but it used to be like that. But I try not to let others bother me. If I don’t like what someone says, I’ve generally learned to pass it by, usually, unless a friend of mine is being attacked. And everyone has thier own views on religion and politics so it’s best not to travel that road, unless you really have to.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
Dry how do you like my new pic? lol how are you?
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Dry - I’ve checked out SOTU a few times, but I’ve decided that it is too argumentative for me. I’m quite capable of being argumentative, but I try to pick my battles carefully. I doubt anyone reading posts at SOTU changes their views because of what they read there.
tabbylynn almost 15 years ago
so i went watch Leap Year it was a great movie. i laughed my butt off.
Smiley Rmom almost 15 years ago
Tabby - I think your new avatar is great! I happened to be changing mine about the same time. I realized my other one had been up for awhile, and decided it was time to put up something different. This one I took while we were waiting in line for a toll booth on the FL turnpike.
Dry and Dusty Premium Member almost 15 years ago
