You tend to see these things just about the time it suddenly becomes too dark to find your way back. At which time they seem to move. And you hear a snap in the murky light.
Now that I know Harry did the illustrations for Steve Martin’s book I can help but see Steve as the figure here. (the man, not the tree face)
