That looks my birch trees as they were dying from invasive beetles. Stupid beetles.

Maybe it’s complaining about the heat.

A screaming quaking aspen?

You tend to see these things just about the time it suddenly becomes too dark to find your way back. At which time they seem to move. And you hear a snap in the murky light.

Now that I know Harry did the illustrations for Steve Martin’s book I can help but see Steve as the figure here. (the man, not the tree face)
