That’s strange.

Reminds me of a Valentine’s card I once saw with an anteater and an ant on it… but without the “adult” punchline.

Well, sure; but not bugs! And maybe not penguins, either….

I think it’s a mayfly. Very short lifespan.

I suspect BB may be into fly-fishing.

This is why I read this strip.

Mayflies have a lifespan of 1/2 hour to a couple of days long depending on the species. Opus is reflecting on the shortness of life.

This would have been nice for Valentine’s Day. Am I right?

Mayfly nymphs live for a couple of years in the water. The next stage is subimago, which is quite brief. The final stage is imago, which lasts just long enough to mate and lay eggs. (In one subspecies, about 5 minutes.)

For a moment there, I thought that Opus had made peace with his old nemesis Milquetoast.

6 years ago this touched my heart and became my mantra. I only wish I had been able to purchase the giclee that the shop had. This means so much to me after the loss of so many loved ones in recent years. ❤️
