I like to think that Steve has sincere empathy for poor little Sam. Perhaps he does, but his past reputation is making it impossible for anyone to believe that his motives are pure. If only he had a bit more tact, he might have not been rebuffed. By the way, I don’t think the waitress’ name is Sue. She is using a simple verb to tell Steve what she wants to do.
BB is taking another day off today. He’ll probably do a new Sunday strip tomorrow and rerun the Bloom County Sunday strip from November 11, 1984 on Monday. Seems that on that day the Great Purple One invaded Binkley’s bedroom and freaked him out.
Not that I had much of an opinion either way of You Know Who. During his prime he seemed like a less wholesome version of Michael Jackson. I didn’t see Purple Rain but heard the song on the radio. I knew that he wrote the music for the 1989 Batman movie. But I only found out 2 days ago that he wrote Stand Back which was performed by Stevie Nicks (an artist I admire much more).
Anyway, Good Night Sweet Prince. Not that I have this level of sentiment for him but it seems that no one in cyberspace has said this yet or (among his hard core fans) reads much of Shakespeare.

Man, if Berke was still drawing this strip, I’d love to be the person who is paid to add the color!

Steve is in the same situation Jim Carrey was in in the movie Liar Liar. He cannot tell a lie and it is ruining his life.

Slugs like lettuce actually. And you might feel wilted too, Steve if you had to bear the heavy burden Sam’s mother carries.
