Elvis: You're already against me Lupin: Puck, what else can you tell us about babies? Puck: The pupal stage in People lasts about 6 weeks. Puck: After that it's anyone's guess. Elvis: I have a guess. Puck: This just in: It smiled at me. Lupin: I can confirm.

As a great Diane Duane fan, I have to say it’s a bit jarring to see the term People used for ehhif and not for cats.

Soon, they will all be fighting to see who gets to guard the new addition, mainly because the new addition is so cuddly to sleep with. The problem is that when they look, the outside kitty will be in the small bed.

I don’t think the cats really grasp that the “baby” is a human kitten. They seem to regard it as simply a strange new pet the man and woman brought home and seem quite fond of.

I love the squinty eyes, and I can almost hear the sneering in Lupin’s voice on the line “Some folks enjoy tiny hats.” (Incidentally, I wear a hat – not as tiny as Lupin’s, but a hat nonetheless – on a nearly daily basis)
