Gentlemen, peanut butter is our friend. It got me through days of no other groceries and low funds in the “kitty”. Just need to keep it off our paws and noses. And penguins, of course…

Elvis I’m afraid you’ll have to rub that off on something. Preferably something expensive and irreplaceable.

The week went by with nothing earth shaking on the local front, and the world news had not changed for the better. Megan wondered if it ever would. In all the years she had been offering her services to “mankind” she had seen highs and lows, but it seemed now Man was simply ignoring the messages. Megan did not, and probably never would, understand Man’s obsession with collecting wealth. “You have a perfectly good home here… why do you need diamonds when you have such good Earth?” But she’d think about that another time. Megan had a long-term plan, but also knew the value of the small. She saw the snowball at the top of the mountain, and knew its effect by the time it reached the bottom. Megan never thought of herself as a snowball, but she had been known to disperse large groups on sight. Such is the value of reputation.

I really prefer crunchy/chunky peanut butter for my sandwiches, Elvis. Creamy I prefer to use for cooking. Peanut butter cookies, peanut butter fudge, peanut butter sauce for ice cream, peanut sauce for noodles, I’ll go with creamy for those. But for PB&J, gotta have crunchy.

Favorite sammie for me? One slice of whole grain wheat with crunchy peanut butter, then folded in half. Don’t need no jelly, don’t need honey, don’t need a sliced banana. Good for breakfast as you’re running out the door, great lunch with a big ol’ glass of moo. Maybe not ideal for dinner, but a great midnight snack.

Mmmmmmmmmmm peanut butter.. thick and creamy! I remember Peter Pan brand used to do a honey roasted version..(daydreaming) oh my Cat, the peanutty decadence! Mmmmm…. oh dear! I seemed to have drifted off there! How long was I out?! lol! I haven’t had peanut butter in over a year because it’s just too dangerous for me! Many a time Andy caught me eating it with a spoon right out of the bottle! Haha!

Good morning and happy Humpday, orbsters and orbabies! I noted my favourite version of a peanut butter sandwich above in a reply but forgot to note that the bacon, obviously, must be cooked to a light crisp. They used to make this sandwich in a little corner cafe in Montreal and it was one of the few dishes I could eat when I was pregnant with my daughter 44 years ago. The cafe, sadly, is no longer there, but I still make this sandwich from time to time.

Elvis with peanut butter on his little paddy-paw is hilarious!

On the home front, we go to see Paul’s neurologist today. It’s a good thing, he had a seizure a couple of weeks ago. Not a really severe one, but a seizure nonetheless.

You know you’ve hit the high numbers of aging, when peanut butter goes onto the “Treats List”, or, worse yet, onto the “No, You Cannot List”!!! For me, it’s on the “ONCE In A While List”…And I am very grateful for that and mindful of the admonition.

Peanut butter isn’t half as bad as jelly/jam. If I get withing 5 feet of an open jar my hands get sticky.

Cooked spaghetti has more firmness than the knives that are bought for our office kitchen. I can usually get about a third of a jar of peanut butter at work before I have to bring it home.

No, Georgia! Don’t leave us in suspense! Inquiring minds need to know: HOW IS PENGO?!? We need to see the heartwarming (and ratings-boosting) reunion of Toddler and Penguin! And there’s more to his story of the life-threatening encounter with Peanut Butter, his desperate trip through the Washer and Dryer . . . and the Toddler’s Brave Vigil, standing by his best friend through this ordeal.

The odd thing about peanut butter, is that it will remove most flexible adhesives, yet itself can be problematic to get off. The reason it works is that the peanut butter serves as a peanut oil poultice, and the oil gradually seeps under or through the adhesive.

And I always remember the line from Charlie Brown: “When you are really lonely, peanut butter sticks to the roof of your mouth.”

    KITTEN UPDATE

After a night at the vet the boys returned yesterday. A little bleary and lethargic. But overall in good shape. We placed them into bathroom prison confinement for the day and overnight. Doc said to have them stay quiet and relaxed for a day or 2. Yeah. Right.

We had a brief period of “who are you monsters and where are we”, but it only took a couple of visits to bring them back to "HEY! GIVE! ME! RUBBIES! Appetites are good. We have to give them little oral syringes of pain killer for another day or 2. Fortunately they are still small enough to be able to handle that task without violence inflicted (on us).

By midnightish all was well. The dying screams of the electric squeaky mouse echoed from the bathroom for an extended period, along with the sound of a ping pong ball being repeatedly body slammed. All is well in kittendom.

This morning, RELEASE THE HOUNDS!….errr…kittens. Yes, they are out and about, rediscovering the castle. But with new and unexpected twist. Duhn da DUHN!

The boy is home for a week. Our foster son is on leave for a week. 101st, stationed at Campbell, the castle is his official home. His father came to live with us and spent his final days here. We promised to take care of Mike and this we shall do. It is a strange thing. Shadow adopted his father, and when he passed, was quite at a loss.

Then Mike arrived. Shadow instantly adopted him, and you could tell she was happy but confused. The new human smells like the old human but sort of doesn’t but that’s okay, he’s MINE. Mike comes home on leave as duty allows, Shadow has gotten accustomed to his absences, all is good.

But the kittens are perplexed and skittish. Mike is doing his best to spend time with them as they allow but they are less likely to be seen if he is in the room. It will take time.

Anything comes up, I’ll be posting!

…tuna salad. I kid you not.
