Invisible Lupin with toe beans! Oh man; my late Bagheera, being a black cat, would lay on dark-colored things and I always suspected he thought he was camouflaged. :D
Lupin fits right in with those towels. He’s just as soft and fuzzy, I bet!
I hope Tabitha’s comment about a bear cave is just snark and not a hint of adventures yet to come. I’ve always wanted a BCN road trip, but not if it means Lupin in a bear cave—unless it’s Gent’s bear cave, naturally.
Not your finest hour Lupin!! how could you fall asleep when you knew that your friend Puck was in trouble and the worst climber in the world was going to go help him!!!? you should at least have been at the bottom looking up, waiting for them. deeply disappointed in you, and no, your cutesy toe beans will not get you out of it this time!
My two aren’t invisible, but they DID burrow into a pile of sheets freshly pulled from the dryer the other day. I figured what the heck? Might as well have cat hair on BOTH sides of the sheets.
the other day someone asked if Sir Figaro & Tabitha only had their Woman. I don’t know if anyone answered, (I haven’t been able to keep up with all of the comments) so if it was, I apologize. In the last panel of Part 5 of the 1st Halloween special, Tab’s & Fig’s Woman says “our” cat Figaro is like that. So, at least she isn’t living alone, I mean she’s not the only people there.
So that’s where Lupin was! He’d gone invisible amongst the fluffiness of white towels. How could he bear to sleep at a time like that?? His confidence in Elvis and Tabitha must be rock solid! Hehe, toe bean marks everywhere! Good to see Tabitha and Elvis respecting one another—love is in the air! ;-)
Perhaps we’re jumping to conclusions about Lupin today. Maybe he went into invisible stealth mode and disguised himself among the towels in order to remain on site without the People seeing him there and thus drawing their attention to the dumb waiter area.
And once he knew Puck was climbing back down with Elvis in tow, he relaxed and decided to catch up on his 16 hours of needed daily sleep.
Our ancient cat, McKayla, always grumbles. When she walks, eats or sleeps, you hear little grrrrr’s-grumble coming from her. But she is 18 human years old, so she gets to do what ever she wants.
Good morning and TGIF, orbsters and orbabies! Yum Yum does not even have the Siamese words to express her disappointment in Lupin! I’ve tried explaining that there may be extenuating circumstances (after all, she is fond of snoozing in fresh laundry herself), but she is not having any of it and has stomped (as only a 6 lb. cat can stomp) into the bedroom to cuddle with Paul while he sleeps.
On the other hand, we have a bit of extra cash after doing some shopping for essentials yesterday, so we are treating ourselves to dinner at Red Lobster tonight. Endless shrimp, here we come….
Elvis and Puck no doubt used their standard cat “What?” look when the Man found them, as if it was the most natural thing in the world to be sleeping in the dumb waiter.
Here I am, logistically confused again. In the first and second panels Puck and Elvis are watching Tabitha climb further down to the laundry room, so they must be at their apartment level. In the third the Man is obviously on the floor in front of the kitchen cabinets finding them “in” the dumbwaiter shaft, but what the heck are they lying on? It’s an open shaft?! Fourth panel we don’t get any further clues except the laundry basket, but Tabitha was heading for the laundry room so Lupin and the basket must be in the apartment too. Is there a ledge or shelf at each level of the dumbwaiter big enough for two cats? And, now the People might put a latch on the shaft door…what will the Boys do for between floor adventures now?
I need a little help from all you guys. A friend recommended Diatomacious powder for an alternative in flea control. It is made from gound up sea shells and is supposedly good for dogs and cats. Has anyone used this or have any info? I am all for natural treatments, but I really don’t wnat to use something that may do more harm than good. Thanks to all!!!
Maverick seems to have an affinity for the Woman’s black pants. Not her jeans. Not her khaki slacks. Just the black slacks. Ember, by contrast, has an affinity for her slings (green thing at the bottom of this link, minus the hole in the middle: http://www.hoyerlift.com/) and that’s where she often likes to sleep at night after the Woman is done with her assigned task of spending the day warming it up for her.
Yeeehaaahhh. That was almost stress free. Yeah, right.
Normal morning. 3 kittens snoozing in the heated condo. Mom off doing whatever. They have gotten comfortable enough with our presence that when I opened the sliding door only one little head looked up and yawned at me. You’re not the food giver, and promptly went back to sleep.
I placed the drop trap but didn’t set it, ran the string back inside and went up to take my shower. Came back down and Lisa was frothing and whirling and jittering around. Come on lets go what’s taking so long OOOOOOOOOH KITTENS! SQUEEEEEEEEE!
Okay, we figure that we’ll get the kittens, haul them inside and then reset to wait for mom. She usually saunters up about half an hour after the food is put out. Have you fed the brats yet. Oh thank god they are such a PITA in the morning. I just don’t know what I would do without you. Good help is so hard to find these days.
Lisa steps out, lifts and sets and paced the plates of yummy yummy smelly wet food under the trap. Obligatory calls of "BREAKFAST! Kitty Kitty Kitty. Comes back in and I settle down with my string.
There is some stretching and yawning. But wait! There’s mom running up the stairs and face planting into the food. Do we change plans? Take mom and then wait for the kittens to settle. CRISIS! Oh…wait. Out comes Bandit. Hi mom, move over nom nom nom nom. And the tortie (still unnamed) Oh boy nom nom nom nom. And Ginger, standing on the edge of the platform. Oh man, not that stuff again. Can’t get some variety here? (GET DOWN THERE YOU LITTLE &^#) Oh, alright. Just because I’m hungry.
And WHAM! the trap comes down. All 4 in 1 shot. There is great yowling and ricocheting until we drape towels over the trap. Attach the transfer cage, pull the doors and wait just a bit. Drape the towels so the only “open” view is at the other end of the transfer cage.
Within 2 minutes they are all in the transfer cage. As I drop in the door Ginger scuttles back into the trap. No matter. We bring the cage into the downstairs bathroom and release the beasts. Mom goes a little frenetic trying to scale the walls (remember, castle, large exposed field stone walls) before settling down. Kittens behind the toilet.
We go back out and connect to the trap again. A little finger poke through the trap and Ginger scuttles into the cage. In we go, release and set the food plate down.
We are out and letting them settle. Will visit later and report again tomorrow.
And no, little Puck has not appeared. deep sigh. We will put food out for a while and hope, but I fear the worst.
Beloved orbsters, our area recently experienced a great tragedy when three siblings were killed by adriver who would not stop for their school bus. A fourth child, great-grandson of one of my church family, was critically injured.
If any of you have little loved ones who ride buses, please double-check your community/regional policies regarding embark/debark procedures.
The children crossed in the dark, across one lane, to get on the bus. The driver who hit them insists she did not see all the lights & signage, yet a driver behind her said all was very plain & recognizable. We do not yet know all of the story, but the bottom line is three sweet children are gone.
There WILL be changes to busing practices in our area. Hopefully, all schools will modify dangerous practices. If your system needs to be improved, please speak up for the little ones!
This is a dreadful week for busing all across America. We weren’t the only ones to lose children.
I have two very happy boys as they are no longer being sat on. Sammy especially does not like the Intruder (well honestly he doesn’t really like anyone but me) and Dean has missed having his bedtime ear scritches (not spoilt at all). There was much purring, head butting, and reclaiming of my personage – how will other cats know I am owned otherwise ;-) – as well as much ankle reinforcement. Good thing I’m not back at work til Monday, I think they need the time to recover from their trauma
My sis has really been missing her boss Zoe (my avi), who went OTRB in August at the dignified age of 17. Sis has even been to the local shelter a few times to look at some senior cats, but the 2 she had in mind got adopted. She was thinking about taking a bonded pair, but then on Wednesday her next-door neighbor said she was trying to find a home for her cousin’s MIL’s 10yo cat after MIL passed away recently. Sis said she’d be happy to take in the “orphaned” kitty.
Onyx arrived at sis’s place yesterday. She looks enough like Zoe to be her sister, except that her fur is shorter. So far she’s been hiding most of the time, but she’s eating & using the catbox & even let sis pick her up & cuddle her briefly this morning. “She didn’t purr, but at least she didn’t hiss either.”
So…a black kitty finds a new home on Halloween(!) & sis gets a new fur kid! (& of course I get my kitty fix when I go on vacation next month, hee hee!)
One of these days, I would love it if Georgia had a Treasury published, that had every single one of the BCN strips (both old and newspaper format) in chronological order… with notes explaining when the new strips and the old strips cover the same material (at least up to the point where the newspaper format has gone past what the old strips covered and has all new material… with the idea that more strips would be forthcoming).
Tabitha: Well, I’m off to the laundry room. Hey, I respect what you did for your friend.
Elvis: Thanks. I respect what you did for a friend.
See you around.
Tabitha: Sure! What’s your apartment got planned next? Lupin gonna wander into a bear cave? BE SURE TO SEND ME AN INVITATION! [GRUMBLE GRUMBLE GRUMBLE]
Man: I found Elvis and Puck!! They got into the dumbwaiter!
Woman: Oh, thank goodness!
And I found Lupin! Asleep in a pile of white towels.
The man is holding Puck with Buzzy Mouse, the woman is holding Elvis (who is holding on as well). What a lovely end to their adventure. Lupin is being invisible to help the cause. Teamwork success.
Dixie has brought another cat home – a little black female we’ve named Delilah, unless she decides that she doesn’t want to be named after a werewolf. Don’t know what we’ll change it to in that case. My sweet pup is a regular cat rescue all by herself. This is the fourth one she’s brought home, so I guess she trusts me on some level. Still working on getting her to let me touch her on a regular basis or even reach into my pocket without her panicking and running away.

Good, Puck’s got Buzzy to hug while the Man gives him cuddles. Meanwhile Mommy’s Special Boy needs extra love and support after his ordeal.

So does that mean that Lupin was unconcerned about Elvis being able to find and save Puck or did Lupin just conk out waiting?
