For Christmas I received several cat toys. The Boys don’t play with store toys, but make their own. The toys, except one, were given to the local no-kill shelter for cats to take to their new homes as they are adopted.The one toy that was kept is a mouse in the wire ball ‘cage’. It so looks like Buzzy Mouse when held prisoner over Christmas, that I had to keep him. He is now safe and never will be catnapped by any Gang of Hoodlums.

hey, Pucky’s doing pretty well there with the tips in his food bowl, maybe I should try being a live doorstop performer and see how much I can make.

It’s performance art! I never realized that! See? BCN is not only funny, it’s educational!

So sorry to hear of SkyKey/Gil passing. I will miss his stories and his comments. My deepest sympathies to his family. Into Heaven may the angels lead you SkyKey. :’(

Local living doorstop? No, Puck is a local living legend.

It breaks my heart to see a cat in a cat shop, but this little kitten, fast asleep showed her toe beans and Karen (who reads every comment here, every one of them, but never says a word) thought I should share it.

FYI as of 2019 pet shops in California can only sell dogs, cats, rabbits if they are from shelter or rescue facilities.

Where do the cats get money? Do they get an allowance or wages or something?

I have cat buskers who appear from nowhere as soon as I arise from my warm seat on the couch, take the form of furry black throw pillows with the density of of a 20 lb. sack of flour, and become liquid dead weight when I return and try to move them. But they do keep my seat roasty warm! ♥♥

Why the Pucky frown and fangs?

Ours prefer to act as door closing prevention devices. And trip hazards. They LOVE to lay in the bathroom doorway. Nowhere else. Just the bathroom.

Ran into Petey out in the political world of GC. Inquiries were made and status was discussed. So I did a cut and paste for a quick update.

Bandit is settling in very well. Just at the age where she is beginning to look like a miniature cat instead of a kitten. She is running her half brothers ragged, sleeping on our bed at night with the rest of the crew and integrating quickly.

Trixie is going to be a long term project. She stays mostly in the bathroom and is still very leery of the giant humans. You can pick her up without much fuss to be placed elsewhere but cannot cuddle her. She accepts brushing and petting with a bit of a resigned air but can’t hide that she actually enjoys it…for a while.

She is still very slow on learning grooming. I have to clean her back feet. Which she is amazingly tolerant of. Go figure. Someone suggested trimming the hair from between her pads. I think I’m going to give that a try. We’ve been adding lysine to her food to stem her eye boogers but it only reduces. She doesn’t even try to remove them so I have to use a warm cloth to soften and remove them.

All of her kittens have full blown grooming habits even though Trixie was slack on cleaning. We speculate that being in the wild for a few years without being spayed pretty much suppressed those habits. Between rain, mud, snow, etc, ferals get pretty darned scruffy.

We pop in multiple times each day just to give her some rubbies and let her know that every visit in not a trauma of medication or enforced relocation or other things she doesn’t like.

Ask me again in a year. Gosh, I hope it doesn’t take that long but we figure it will. Or longer.

We lost both our black/white Johnny and dilute tortoise Blue Fire yesterday. Both were incontinent. Both scooted around using their front legs for locomotion. Both told us it was “time” a year ago. They were each other’s sweetheart and have been together since his birth 12 years ago. It is so hard to let our babies go. Now we have 3 left. Somehow that is not a consolation.

Later in his career, Puck might want to try Sally’s gig…stair statue.

Try that in my house Puck on one of the few doors I do have and you’ll go flying. Al my floors are hardwood and that trick doesn’t work too well. You would be a hockey Puck. Open the door and off you go.

My kitty would complain loudly that she was being moved, no matter that you need to get through the door.

I got two things here.

This weekend i get to be the rule that proves the exception.

I have a flu. A flu. Even though i get the shot every year, i was lucky enough to be the target of one that the CDC didn’t target. A minor variant. That or a new mutation.

Anyway, i’m sick.

And, i haven’t had the flu in years, so even a minor variant is enough to set me back on my…

…bottom.

The van fund got a $150 donation this morning. That almost makes up for being sick. :J

I think it’s not a sad face, but a side-of-mouth whisper so as to stay in character. Not a grimace.

My Tigger is more of a speed bump than a door stop! She’ll lay, in front of the bathroom door or, in the middle of the hallway and won’t move!
