Vacuum cleaners will not attack unless provoked? Utter nonsense! All too often you are sitting quietly, drinking something soothing and reading An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding or Prolegomena zu einer jeden künftigen Metaphysik, die als Wissenschaft wird auftreten können, and suddenly, without any provocation on your part, a vacuum cleaner will roar into view, dragging a member of your family behind it. Not even a whistle blown as warning.
It’s kind of funny that Georgia frequently mentions her cats’ cravings for ham. Without getting into the sad and ugly details, we went through some bad years with several of our rescued furbies developing various slow progressing terminal illnesses, including cancers and kidney failures. (The very stressful, painful – for both pet and owner – and often very expensive end-of-life issues for pets are rarely discussed when people are encouraged to adopt animals. Be especially careful when adopting pets close to the same age to hopefully avoid having multiple pets in that phase of life at the same time.) We found meat-based baby food to be useful in encouraging these very ill cats to eat and also useful for mixing in some of their meds, which helped reduce stress levels. To Georgia’s point, the biggest hit of all with the sick kitties was the sometimes the hard to find ham variety.
I’ve been going through the Facebook posts Georgia had listed. It’s been such fun seeing them all; some I’ve seen some not. One photo from December 2016 showing the Boy and Girl with Santa. The Boy looks so much like the Man and the Girl a doppelganger for the Woman. Beautiful children.
Many years ago, we had a small dog who LOVED the vacuum. We had a separate small brush just for her. We’d use it to collect loose hair. Of course, we started when she was vey young.
Good morning Mega Orbsters. Can I please ask for prayers, thoughts, purrs, orb bumps and boops for Shaunnmunn’s Mother-in-Law and all her family? Our dear Shaunnmunn’s MIL was just diagnosed with breast cancer. Luckily the doctors have found it quite early so she should be able to have an outpatient surgery & go home the same day. Let’s all hope and pray that it will be so! As you can imagine our dear Orbster Shaunnmunn and her hubby Jeff are extremely concerned and Shaunn’s brother-in-law was just diagnosed with Bell’s Palsy. There is so much pain happening in our dear Orbster’s life right now. Shaunnmunn says she will not be around for awhile due to all the anxiety she’s facing now. As in the past, and as I did for our dear SheMc, I will be sending along all your messages to her. ♥ (((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Loving bear hugs and orb boops and bumps going out to all our dear Orbsters who are also dealing with illness, loss of loved ones, and pain))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) I’ve got to go walk a mile in the snow now (it’s not that deep and already on the melt) to mail my cursed income taxes to the IRS so I’ll be a little while before I’m back online folks. Yes, even though I don’t live or work in the U.S. and will probably never live in the U.S. again, I still have to file taxes. UGH. On that note I shall leave you my dear friends. ♥♥♥♥♥♥
Do some cats really eat ham and bacon? My cat Gracie will inhale turkey, chicken, and even unseasoned white pork, but she will not eat any meats that are smoked or salted.
Good morning and happy Caturday, orbsters and orbabies! Today’s strip is so cute, but I really think the boys would be safer in the cupboard with the kibble.
On the home front, we are not happy campers. I went out to run some errands yesterday; when I came home, I was met by a complaining, bitter Paul – the sound on the TV had died. I thought it might be a problem with the universal remote, so I called our provider. A very nice young man spent about an hour with me checking everything that could be checked, and came to the conclusion that the problem was with the TV. We decided to run the sound through the surround sound, but I had put the remote for that away in a safe place – you guessed it, couldn’t find it. Ordered new remote for that from Amazon. Today, TV will not turn on at all, so facing another call to provider when Paul wakes up to reprogram a remote for bedroom TV. Groan, mutter, curse….
We will knew Puck would get the best of Elvis. Lupin making a list, must have the necessities. Elvis just trying to get his whistle back. Yep CN team reporting for duty as usual.
Check out today’s “Off the Mark”, including this joke posted by lanfil: Reminds me of a joke I heard: A Doberman pincher, a German shepherd & a cat die and find themselves before God. He asked the Doberman what purpose did he serve on earth. The Doberman said he guarded his master & family fearsomely. God set him on the right side of the throne. He asked the shepherd the same question. The shepherd said he was a K-9 police dog and caught many criminals. He set him on the left side of the throne. He asked the cat the same question to which the cat replied, “I think You’re in my chair.”
Diva and I send love and support to all in the Orb, especially dear Shaunmunn and her family. Thank you for your care LadyBri. Diva sends ankle reinforcements and little warm licks. I send a big ((((((((HUG))))))
By the way, Diva and her brother never feared the vac. They’d sit and watch it thoughtfully. Maybe learned from our older cat, Nora, who taught them little critturs about the houserules. We adopted Diva and Roger from barn cat owner neighbors. Nora and Roger are over the Rainbow Bridge now. Sometimes I wonder what they purr about!
FYI, ham can be used to lure ferals from under the deck. My ex was able to persuade 2 of them to be hand fed and given rubbies….than SNATCH! Into the carrier, off to the vet, snip snip and your an indoor cat. Adults, not kittens.
Lady Bri: Thoughts, prayers and orb bumps to you and yours. Wishing your MIL the best. Lost my 9 month old grandson for as yet underdetermined cause last Thursday evening. It’s driving me nuts. Think I’m doing OK then something of his sets me off. I empathize with you. Wishing you peace.
Our newest, Cole, goes from room to room with me as I vacuum keeping an eye on it from the other side of the room. The other three, under the bed. Cole has been with us a month now and loves to play chase with others who aren’t always as ready as he is. We figure that he is somewhere around two years old.

Don’t you believe it. In my household, vacuums aggressively seek out malingering kitty tails!

For Shan, SheMC, Lady Bri, and all the Orbsters needing encouragement from Gene Pitney and Petula Clark: True Love Never Runs Smooth
We’ll stand by you all the while no matter what goes wrong.
Though we may feel weak, the orb will keep us strong,
For the real world never runs smooth,
But I don’t care,
The Orb Friends will send all the love and the prayers,
You need to share. …….
When the world outside the orb is tearing you apart,
Remember there’s a group, who’ll keep you in their hearts,
For the real world never runs smooth,
That’s what they say,
But Orb Friends will share all the pains and the heartaches and tears we have to pay!
