Looks like a collection of Owl Vases. But Short ‘n Stout was especially loved by all. “A Living Room Mourns.” That tells all so succinctly…..Will the woman be able to glue our favorite back together? And is Lupin the guilty party!? Stay ‘tooned.

I can just picture the Woman in surgical scrubs bending over a table, intently working on Short N Stout -

Woman extending her hand, palm up: Super Glue!

Man slapping a tube of glue onto her palm: Super Glue!

Woman after applying a layer of glue to an edge: Sponge!

Man leaning in ready to dab up drips: Sponge!

Woman after anxiously working a while: Wipe my forehead!

Man bending closer and delicately dabbing with a tissue: Wiping Forehead!

    We’re having a flap

    we can’t work out

Because you’re hissing at me, Elvis

    Why can’t you see

    What you’re doing to me

When you don’t believe a word I say?

    We can’t go on together

with suspicious minds (with suspicious minds)

    And we’ll be sad forever

    with suspicious minds

So, if an old vase we know

    should smash down below

Would I still see suspicion in your eyes?

    Here we go again

    asking where I’ve been

You can’t see I’m being real, not lying

    (No, not lying)

    We can’t have fun together

with suspicious minds (with suspicious minds)

And we can’t trust each other

    with suspicious minds

The fact Lupin’s still so adamant about it even now tells me he really is innocent—usually when he’s not, he starts up with the smart-aleck talk by now about how it wasn’t his fault but actually was and stuff like that. A sort of “sorry, not sorry” kind of attitude most of the time, or genuine morose when it was an unintended accident.

Getting neither of that right now, just persistence that he’s innocent.

Of course, we’ll need Goldie to investigate fully to know for sure.

    Today is:

U.S. Coast Guard Day. A salute to the only military service that has a primary mission of saving lives, though that certainly isn’t their only mission. Here’s to you, Coasties!

National White Wine Day. I’m glad it is no longer “required” to have white wine with seafood or pork—I’ve never had a white wine that didn’t give me an instant headache, sometimes even the smell will set me off. The thought of getting even mildly buzzed on white wine is, frankly, a little nauseating—all the hangover with none of the fun. My opinion of white wine is essentially Sandra Boynton’s opinion of white chocolate and carob. (See Chocolate, the Consuming Passion.)

National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day. The most popular cookie in the US. Invented in 1937 or 1938 by a culinary genius named Ruth Graves Wakefield who owned the Toll House Inn, in Whitman, MS. I have to say that commercial chocolate chip cookies are no comparison to her original recipe, and our modifications blasts those right out of the oven—we use weapons grade semi-sweet and dark chocolate, among other highly classified modifications. And I don’t dare make any more of them until after Thanksgiving. Sigh.
