Elvis is part of the blanket now. (Also, I love cinnamon rolls!)

The predicted low temp for Tuesday morning is in the 40’s. Fuzzy blanket season is starting early here, too. I want a cinnamon roll with cream cheese frosting!

The sky is still orange over here in California. If the air is getting colder, I wouldn’t know; I can’t go outside to feel it thanks to the smoke. :(

Puck is waxing poetic over the pastry….No , over the heavenly cream cheese icing! Elvis is loving the fuzzy blanket. It just doesn’t get any better than this.

Yes Elvis, cats are very good at kneading (and needing).

I used to make lovely cinnamon rolls with lots of extra cinnamon and brown sugar. Sigh. Those were such good rolls and days.

There’s just barely a hint of fall here in Arkansas but I made cinnamon rolls yesterday. The cats seemed to enjoy the smells but weren’t interested in the actual rolls.

Our warm streak ended with the smoke invasion. Now we top out in the 60s. I wonder if this is what the world was like after the asteroid strike that killed off the dinosaurs.

It was chicken pot pie here in Kentucky. Not quite cinnamon rolls yet though in the mornings there is a thin fog and crickets and frogs doing their best to wake me up.

Darn it, now I HAVE to make cinnamon rolls! I let my KitchenAid stand mixer do the kneading now, my hands aren’t up to it anymore :(

Those are my father-in-law’s favourite pastry. Last time I made them, he was in the kitchen the whole time, and totally oblivious to what I was doing. Til I put a warm cinnamon roll in front of him …LOL!

Tiger Update:

There haven’t been anymore sightings, so they are no longer actively looking for it or trying to catch it so I guess we just have a tiger roaming around now.

For those who don’t know: A few days ago a sheriff’s deputy saw what he believed was a tiger cub at an industrial park in Knoxville, Tennessee.

(Most likely though the “tiger” is actually a bobcat because apparently people report tigers all the time that turn out to be bobcats)

FUZZY BLANKET SEASON?! THAT’S MY FAVORITE SEASON!!! Also, I call “kneading” “making biscuits”.

I can smell them from here !! My mouth is watering !!

Predict there are going to be a few trips to bakeries, Cinnabon, or Taco Bell (who carries cinnabon minnies)….

Here in Louisville, Kentucky, it’s getting cooler at night at least! But for my chihuahua, it’s always fuzzy blanket season. If it’s too warm, he just stays on top of it!

Now I wish I had bought cinnamon buns when I did groceries with my daughter yesterday!

right now i’m looking at a little kitten staring at a pan of cinnimon rolls that are cooling on the counter…. ( they were just iced)…just five minutes to happiness….

Looks like that bun is doomed. We’re getting a bit of summer over here with temperatures around 30 Celsius and full sun.

National Chocolate Milkshake Day —Now that’s encouraging!

I always thought cream cheese icing was reserved for carrot cake; but I guess it would taste good on a cinnamon roll too.

I’m making my first buttermilk biscuits. I took a Zoom class. The price (only $25) included all the ingredients, mostly already measured out, plus a KitchenAid bench scraper and a pastry blender (it’s run by Whirlpool / KitchenAid). The instructors are the best. I’ve taken quite a few of their classes since I retired and decided it’s time to learn to cook, but the others were in person before the pandemic and this was my first Zoom.

I didn’t make the biscuits during the class because my kitchen is too small; either room for the computer or to work.

In a week, I am taking a pizza class with them. Same deal, plus a pizza wheel and a bowl scraper set.

The air has cooled off just enough here in San Diego that I made dutch baby pancakes for breakfast this morning. I used Penzey’s Cake Spice instead of the usual nutmeg though. Soooo good.

Aw yeah, cinnamon bun and fuzzy blanket season!!

Pro tip: put a blanket in the dryer, run it through, then use it. It is warm, heavenly bliss.

Summer’s been trying to reassert itself since the second half of August, but fall does seem early this year as the days are getting comfortable and the nights freezing. And thankfully the humidity is largely leaving.

Yesterday while killing time at Hobbytown USA in Knoxville, I found a rubber squeeze toy called Squirrel in a Stump. You squeeze and the squirrel pops up with its little arms sticking out to the sides. Reminded me so much of Homestyle!

I have orange danish rolls ready to bake.
