Which is exactly why I’ll never again go to DisneyWorld, or any other amusement area that does that stuff.

Nah, I do that for my grandkids and fly them first class. Really ticks off my kids! Well worth it.

Theme parks, an excellent way of getting people to hand over large amounts of money for the right to queue for hours for rides that last minutes.

On a ride once that cost $600 an hour… Fortunately it only lasted 30 seconds.

And then, after finally paying, they’re directed to the ride’s Exit…

For a real “thrill”, they have those “switchback” queues so hundreds of people can enjoy the envy.

Envy? I don’t worry about it. They come Rich and get “comps” for almost everything. Then they leave Poor. Next time, they are in same line with you.

Then get into the Viagra line. A three hour wait for a two minute ride.

I guess there’s something to be said about that theme park, it teaches about life ugly little lessons. I don’t need to pay money for that.

    So it’s like an airport.

Speaking of an airport, when I was in the army, I had to buy a first class ticket for a flight home from Fort Benning because that was all that was available. It really felt good to be escorted by an attendant to the head of the boarding line passed numerous officers of various ranks who looked askance at this lowly Pfc being given such special treatment. I think the attendant even shared in my enjoyment of the experience.

Watching the people was the most fun.

Our senior class trip was to Disney World in 1972. After a few rides I gave my tickets to classmates and watched others. Parents liked to photograph their children in stocks. I started holding up the smaller ones for them.

“What’s the pay for this job?”

    “What job?”

    “This one, holding up kids.”

“No idea. I’m not working. I’m a tourist just like you.”

It’s worth it! Bought the “city pass” when we visited Rome. While it added about 5 Euro to the entrance fee to Colosseum and other sites letting you jump past the other tourists AND it included free bus & undergound train service all over the city. I’d rather spend my time inside the sites, than in line. Simply good ROI.

There’s an actual airport deal (forget the location) that could be called “Class Schadenfreude”. Passengers who can afford the best seats can sit in a lounge and watch the bedraggled proles lining up below.
