I could retire now, I’m already having to take the minimum draw on my IRA. But I don’t like the typical things that “retired people” do, so I’d just as soon keep working. After all it’s only us old grey haired balding people that understand those AM directional antennas that live in the swamp.
401Ks are invested primarily in market funds, which do well over time. My plan was to work until 70 but disabling headaches meant I had to retire early. If Mom had not unexpectedly left my three brothers and I more than anticipated, it would have been a very meager retirement on my 401K savings. The sooner you start, the happier you will be.

There have been some dips, but the stock market has done very well under Obama, Trump, and Biden. 401ks reflect that.
