Pessimists are happier than optimists. Optimists hope for the best, and are usually disappointed. Pessimists fear the worst – and are happy if it doesn’t happen, and get to say, “I told you so!” if it does.
In general, I retain an optimistic attitude. However, I am also pragmatic enough to know that things can and do go wrong. Sometimes controllable, sometimes “black swan” events.
To me the issue is retaining that optimism or pessimism and extrapolating to all that follows. It’s never all one or the other. Yet, as the study I cited above says, optimists live longer. So, if I err, it will be toward looking to the bright side of life (Monty Python wouldn’t steer me wrong, would they?).

Rose are nice, but yellow really brightens up the world in a comfortable non-glaring manner

Gotta give props to the colorist for giving the lenses just enough rose tint to be noticeable on close inspection after reading the punch line.
