Isn’t that called a bribe?

Hmmm, some people in Washington need to see this comic strip. Not for ideas of asking for tips, but to realize that receiving tips is wrong for them.

I see when using an app to pay, the screen pops up with your tip % choice – they don’t want you to forget to tip them for doing what they’re being paid to do…

Tip THIS‼️

I never used to tip in places without table service. I started during the pandemic, because I was aware that the stores were really in danger of going out of business, and I didn’t want them to.

Cops aren’t allowed to ask for bribes. They’re just allowed to let you go if you have a “Fraternal Order of the Police” decal. I’m not sure how that’s very different.

Back in the ‘60s, Mike Royko (in his book, ’Boss’) told of a Chicago policeman who stopped a couple for speeding. They were too poor to pay the bribe he wanted to not write the ticket. However, they were returning from a relative’s farm with several live chickens for their table and he took them instead.

Tipping has gotten out of hand, when did 10% (which was bad enough) go to 20 → 25? Folk without an expense account can’t keep up, sorry.

I think that cop is pushing his luck.

It is easy folks, don’t tip unless you get “extra” service, beyond the job description. I don’t tip at any counter, period. I don’t tip people doing their job. I tip waiters and waitresses that actually do something above throwing the plate down. If the business or people don’t like it, I go elsewhere.

Tips are for wait staff that depend on them. Asking for tips otherwise is just pure greed.

I would be very wary of a tipsy policeman.

“What have for me to desire a tip, Officer, or is it something you won’t do?”

Pay them a living wage.

“TIPS”, always meant “To Insure Prompt Service” and should be paid before service. Insurance, that is what you are buying…Unfortunately Americans gave after the fact even if the service was great and then they wouldn’t tip…

Pretty tired of the whole tip thing, except at restaurants, and perhaps some hotels that offer extra services, like helping with your luggage and such. Even then the tip percentage expectations have become ridiculous. 20 percent was only always expected for exceptional service, not regular service. Regular service was expected to receive 12 to 15 percent. Poor service received less or nothing at all.

However, if the poor service has to do with the business not staffing enough people, they are going to get at least the regular percentage. Especially, if it’s obvious they are making an effort in an impossible situation.

Underpaid.

I see the ’56 Plymouth got a paint job (yellow, though recently red).

And TIPS are irritating enough even when more or less legitimate. But one for the cop issuing her a (speeding?) ticket? As Broomie said, oh, come on!

100% Everyone wants tips now.

I guess it was a logical development from defunding the police. (Sigh.)
