But does Buckles connect the word “stay” with actually doing a “stay?” The hardest part for my dog was “leave it.” In hospitals, there can be many dangerous items on the floor, and dogs like my beagle are garbage disposals with feet. I had to spend a lot of practice time on “leave it.” She still doesn’t know words, but she gets the tone, and will leave it – if I see it first, that is.
